I have only just really found out that I might have developed lactose intolerance, so I am ill. Big rash and bad stomach after having dairy. Does lactose intolerance cause you to feel nauseas as well?
I keep a heater on in the living room where I'm sitting now but am feeling dried out from it. I went to bed with two water bottles and have had 3 hours sleep, I woke up feeling sick and actually shaking because of how cold and icy the air is. I have sensory issues and don't wear much but have a blanket. Because I'm already ill it's possible the cold feels worse. There's no visible frost outside. But even then I havent actually been able to sleep through in ages because of how freezing it gets at night.

I think you should check your temperature. It sounds like a fever.

LMNT · 18/07/2023 06:15

It sounds like maybe you have an infection or virus causing a fever. Have you checked your temperature?

empatheticpretzel · 18/07/2023 07:07

I have been ill for 3 weeks now. I keep almost getting better and then it hits again.

what is the actual temperature where you are? It is unlikely to be genuinely cold. Look at the local weather forecast for some idea. If you are feeling so cold when it is really warm then maybe ring 111 and ask whet they think you should do?

EmeraldFox · 18/07/2023 07:13

Are you in the southern hemisphere? Do you have an electric throw? Does sound like a fever to be honest.

HeckinBamboozled · 18/07/2023 07:15

I'll second others, I think you have a fever. Which is concerning with that rash. You need to speak to a medical professional.

I've had some interesting moments with my lactose intolerance and if I get chills it's associated with gastric distress and it usually passes when I've fully evacuated. 😳

Room temperature inside? Are you in Australia? That is cold, and if you are ill you will feel colder. If you can't easily maintain a comfortable temperature in a room then I would buy an electric throw.

Put the CH on?

LadyBird1973 · 18/07/2023 08:45

If you have a temperature then you shouldn't make the house too hot or cover up too much. You need to get that temperature down. I would ring the dr if I'd been ill for 3 weeks.

Bromptotoo · 18/07/2023 09:43

Like others say, if you've been ill for 3 weeks you need to speak to a doctor.

Ten degrees as a night time min is quite a lot lower than in the south of England but that's outdoors. How warm is it in your living room or bedroom?

SmileyClare · 18/07/2023 09:44

I’m not sure what you mean by “recommend products” but my advice would be:
paracetamol at regular intervals for fever

anti histamine (eg piriton) to treat rash

look up Lactose intolerant diet guidelines on the NHS website and follow

Warm bath before bed

Use a duvet instead of a blanket and wear more clothes

A bowl of water in the room you’re using a heater will prevent the “dry” feeling you describe.

Be mindful of the cost of running a heater all day if you’re struggling with the cost of living. Wear more clothes and move around more if possible.

You should not need heating for prolonged periods (if at all) in the summer.

Make a drs appointment if no improvement after treating your symptoms at home. A pharmacist can advise on your rash in the meantime.

I hope you have friends or family members for support if you’re struggling with your mental health x

I would get an electric throw not cheap to buy (about £50) but cheap to run and so warm we don't need to put our heating on in the evenings even in winter.
