A reminder for parents looking to save on their holiday childcare costs that you can use the Tax-Free Childcare system to help pay for accredited holiday clubs and sports activities.

For those unfamiliar with the scheme, for every £8 you deposit, the government will top this up by £2, capped at £500 every 3 months.

You can register on the
Tax-Free Childcare website

It can also be used to pay for childminders, nurseries, nannies, after school clubs and play schemes.

We use it for after school club. Unfortunately our local holiday clubs don't accept it but it's definitely worth checking!

I think the worst thing they ever did was call it 'tax free childcare' because people mix it up with tax credits. I've mentioned it to so many people (school mums, people at work) who often look mildly offended and say 'oh we don't qualify for benefits so can't get it' or similar 🤦🏻‍♀️ Then look at me with clear disbelief when I say you can still get it.

Can I ask a question about this? I want to start saving towards holiday clubs for next year. We won't save anywhere near the maximum, it's just to cover the summer holidays - probably around £500. I have 3 kids. Do I need to open separate accounts for each of them or can I just save into one pot and use it for all three of them? Thanks

Each kid gets their own code with their own allowance
