Hi

We are all watching the pennies and I normally buy Tesco own brand but I want to give Aldi a go as they are cheaper but I don't want to buy it and after one wash never use it again . There is a choice but I want to make the best choice .

Thank you

We use liquid rather than powder but found the bog standard bio/non bio fine in their intended applications.

I have however moved to a sensitive skin option recently as I was finding ordinary non bio causing skin to itch. That however was not an Aldi product but something my OH got from the vegan sgop!!

Softoprider · 06/07/2023 15:32

I have used the ALDI powder (Almat I think) and thought it was perfectly fine. I normally use Persil. As far s I can tell - not much difference at all.

Ditch the fabric conditioner. It’s unnecessary.

I haven't used Aldi washing powder for at least five years, but it never used to dissolve properly. Lidl's washing powder is much better (than Aldi's was the last time I bought it).

I use the colour one and bio and they are fine, but the pp is right that sometimes it doesn't dissolve. I don't use anything else to know if it's just aldi ones which have this problem but my machine is new so it's not that.

People keep saying this, but seeing as it must cost all of a fiver a year, and does make a noticeable difference, if people want to use it, they should continue to do so.

We usually get Aldi non bio liquid (DP has sensitive skin) and there are no complaints, things get clean and even though we always use it and rarely remember maintenance washes, we don't have any problems with the machine clogging up etc.

OP I find that Aldi products are very good quality so not really a risk of something being bad enough to not use again. Plus people have different preferences re: powder/liquid/capsules and bio/non bio/scented so I'd just pick whichever type I preferred, it's likely to be perfectly decent and you'll probably wonder why you didn't make the switch earlier.

I wonder if the new way of using as little water as possible and encouraging people to wash at lower temperatures could be a reason for this.

A hotter wash and a cycle that uses more water, and it will probably dissolve better.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 07/07/2023 06:09

I use almat bio (the green on I think) but have tried all the powders. I chuck a scoop of it directly into the washing machine. No issues at all. Also use their fabric conditioner, again perfectly fine.

roses2 · 07/07/2023 06:13

I use aldi powder although I use half the recommended dose and put 30ml in using a scoop measure. I use a spray for any obvious stains. My clothes come out clean and the powder dissolves fine.

Crumbcatcher · 07/07/2023 10:17

@BarbaraofSeville That makes sense as I wash at 20 except sheets and towels, so probably 20 isn't hot enough to dissolve the powder.

dementedpixie · 07/07/2023 10:27

They just don't come in a very big box so I don't know if it's really cheaper than other own brands. I haven't had an issue with dissolving but I never wash below 30⁰C.

TerfIngOnTheBeach · 07/07/2023 10:34

useless post but I use Aldi washing powder on the drive, it’s marvellous for keeping moss at bay and one good sprinkling gives you two years of moss free tarmac for anyone that has a lot of trees.

sorry I can’t help with the washing, I’m an Ariel fan myself.

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 07/07/2023 10:40

I use both bio and non bio powders and they work really well! The colour powder doesn’t dissolve properly so I don’t buy that. The liquids are good as well.

MynameMyname · 07/07/2023 12:17

Looks like liquid it is . Thanks everyone

I use the Aldi powder version of surf and the yellow fabric softener

OutsidInInsideOut · 07/07/2023 23:33

Almat non bio liquid
Comfort whichever they have tbh we go through loads, I love different fragrances each week hate it all smelling the same
yes they're artificial or unnecessary but who cares i like it.

fussychica · 08/07/2023 17:53

I use Aldi green for whites and the purple box for coloured, not the lavender one. I've never had a priblem with the powder dissolving even when I used their tablets which unfortunately they've discontinued.
Use less than recommended on the box but still get excellent results.
