Waves to all! Still reading and still trying to be frugal! I mentioned work on our house that has escalated....yeah it's still ongoing. Was meant to be less than £100 and it's now £1100 and counting. So now we have loan repayments on top of increased everything else. Uurgh.

But on a more positive note it's getting done, finally getting on top of the house. We've had a great summer albeit on a budget lots of fun free things.

Here's to a new term new start!

Happierwithouthim · 29/08/2023 17:59

NSD snookered as bloods now payable on GP visit card €20 but tomorrow's looking good as garage has put my car back until Thurs!

Wow decaf 11 times the cost!

RumBananaSundae · 29/08/2023 19:35

Hope work wasn’t too bad for you today North and Girlie.

Happier I ended up with about three years worth of leave to take this year due to my sick leave in the previous years. I’ll trade with you as I have no idea what to do with it.

Ouch on the budget jump Decaf.

Not a great work day today so consoled myself with a trip to Paris in December. Well the train still have to book the hotel. Might try a different neighbourhood. Not frugal (£168) but I don’t care. Will be the bus again for my commute tomorrow and Thursday. Payday tomorrow. I can start again.

Happierwithouthim · 29/08/2023 21:14

I made a start on decluttering the spare bathroom ahead of builder calling on Thurs, it's draining isn't it sorting through stuff. But it's a start.

Evenings are so short now, it's dark outside & it's only 9:15pm

kessiebird · 29/08/2023 22:32

£25 fuel (not from budget as my friend couldn't drive today - unavoidable due to her very ill pet 😢)
£13.58 McDonald's - also unavoidable after long day at theme park with two tweenies and two hour drive home. I did get £3 off and a free Medium Fries on the app.
£20 DH needed oil for his car.

Told DD that's it, back to work tomorrow so we need to reign it in.

Agree decaff new term, new start!

Thestartofsomethinggood · 30/08/2023 06:24

Yesterday was no spend. Work then dog all, ironing and sorting out loads of runner beans that I picked from allotment

Happierwithouthim · 30/08/2023 17:58

Refund €25 top was too big but dc both told me it didn't suit me!
Repayment €300 from dm for ninja I paid out for a couple of months ago. If anyone's in ROI arnotts now have it for €239, I paid €275.

needastrongoneagain · 31/08/2023 10:49

The honesty of kids eh @Happierwithouthim 🤣

We've more runner beans that we know what to do with @Thestartofsomethinggood

Sounds tough re the friends pet @kessiebird. Hope there's improvement?

Paris sounds great @RumBananaSundae

That sounds very stressful re the increased costs @Decafflatteplease, everything seems to escalate when there's work being done to a house.

Well done on the pooch @Girliefriendlikespuppies!

Spends a little more on other stuff these last few days but less so re food.

£45 headphones for DH.
£20 books
£40 food shopping
£75 holiday shopping but bought from last months budget.
£300 work expenses but all claimable.

About the renew my energy tariff with Eon, they've offered a fairly decent deal. I was expecting it to go up as we fixed two years ago before all the energy price craziness, but is circa £45 per month so no where near what I imagined it was going to be. We've so much credit on the account too I can probably keep the direct debit as it is and cover the excess easily with this, and be warm this winter (as DH now home and needs to be warm, we were super frugal this last year while he was in hospital and froze basically!).

Notified the revenue re my new car being a hybrid so expecting a better tax code too, will see what this works out to be in monetary terms when I get it.

And hardly spending a penny on fuel as charging at work at present, although we've just had a charger fitted at home too.

Need at least dc could give me an answer, asked bf was it just too big or did it not suit me and he couldn't give me any answer, they were straight to the point, both had different reasons but they were honest!

Happierwithouthim · 31/08/2023 11:17

Looking forward to hearing how hybrid works out need

Happierwithouthim · 31/08/2023 13:44

I get paid on Thursdays ShockShockShock

Taytocrisps · 31/08/2023 18:32

SKY phoned me today offering me a TV (something to do with Glass?) that I could pay back over four years. I declined.

Decafflatteplease · 31/08/2023 19:06

Spendy day today but all essentials!

£65 on medical type things disabled DC needs but had a £10 voucher so pleased with that.

£5 on a new pe bag why do kids wait until 3 days before term starts to announce they've lost their pe bag.... Amazon prime to the rescue!

£100 on bike stuff for teens, essential as they bike to school.

I also sold £24 of stuff on vinted so really pleased with that. I seem to sell nothing for a while then all of.a sudden loads of orders 🤔

@Taytocrisps well done for declining the TV although those sky glass TVs do look lovely 😂

@needastrongoneagain we are starting to look into energy fixes and maybe switching. We recently got almost £1000 back as we were very much in credit and weren't using all our direct debit amount even in winter. They wouldn't let us lower it anymore so we asked for credit back instead.

Happierwithouthim · 31/08/2023 20:50

I'm sure if you wanted a new tv tayto you wouldn't be looking for a four year loan for one! Admittedly they look cool but what happens if you discontinue with sky?

I've got a car from garage currently while my own is being repaired it's 6 years older than mine but has same mileage, made me realise how little my car will be worth when I want to upgrade, dd will be old enough for a driving license in 3.5 years, I think I'll keep it for her. I've got a massive shed I can store it in.
I'll be driving it for at least another year if not two

Happierwithouthim · 31/08/2023 20:51

65c on an animal bar today

Happierwithouthim · 31/08/2023 20:51

€10 diesel for loan car

kessiebird · 31/08/2023 21:04

Missed a day but it was LSD, first day back at work immersed in emails!

Today £48.53 Aldi, £6.50 Asda, £52 B&M this included a couple of nice side lamps to brighten up the living room and a storage basket for the bathroom for cleaning stuff.

My friend sadly lost her dog. Sad times, we will all miss him. We are headed round this weekend and going out for lunch, she wants to treat us as I wouldn't take any money for Tuesday.

Sounds sensible to refuse that Tayto

Good thoughts on energy fixes.

Sorry I'm beat after a long day, will try to keep up

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2023 07:33

Spending spending week especially on car juice

happy 1 September all

RumBananaSundae · 01/09/2023 14:18

Good luck with the decluttering Happier. I started when moving appeared on the cards but now things are 100x re cluttered so moving won’t be fun.

Sorry to hear about your friend’s dog Kessie.

Spending not been too bad. Wednesday was a NSD. Yesterday was ~£40 changing my Eurostar ticket and today has been £8.47 in Lidl. It’s Italian week and I bought cheese I like that was about £2 cheaper a package than Waitrose so not necessary but frugalish.

Will be spendy later as hoping to book my December hotel. This week’s been draining so looking forward to seeing the back of it. Work was awful for a strange reason and had a phone call from mother. Current irrational worry is not being able to get an ETIAS for my holiday next year. Uggg I need a distraction.

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 01/09/2023 15:01

Afternoon everyone Smile
Tayto my friend has that Glass Sky deal she pays 109 a month for broadband the tv and the Sky package . I don't know if that is good or not tbh but it seems a lot to me . I think you made the right decision Smile
