Gas bill for a household of 6 was 600 for three months. Just curious what was yours? Is that average?

How much do you have heating on?what sort of temp is the thermostat set? do you also cook on gas? are showers electric? Do people have baths?

MyLifeIsFullOfLemons · 29/04/2023 17:17

how big is the house? Are you open plan?

dementedpixie · 29/04/2023 17:27

My last 3 monthly charges for gas were £180, £140 and £160

Electricity were £180, £160, £180

4 people in 4 bed detached in Scotland

AlmostAJillSandwich · 29/04/2023 21:50

£10 a month

Truestorypeeps · 29/04/2023 21:59

€380 (£320) for the last two months gas and electric. 4 people. SAHM and 2 year old there most of the time. Irish government gave €200 credit off that too as a cost of living measure, so €180 (£150) after that.

£190 semi detached but we have a wood burner which basically has been heating our house most of Winter

CLEO42 · 29/04/2023 22:51

I've got a direct debit of £330/month but Dec, Jan and Feb were 700+ (we had Friday FIL staying for 4 weeks in Dec and he needed it warm), 600+ and 500+ . That's gas and leccy combined btw. I had accrued a lot of credit over last summer and so am now at break even and will start accruing for next winter. It's about twice the cost of last year. That's a 6 bed house/family of 4, with Victorian windows single glazed brrrrrrr and we only heat the rooms we use.

When I think about the profits that the energy producers have made it makes my blood boil! They're stealing the money out of my pockets and giving it straight to their shareholders and there's nothing I can do about it.

It is what it is.

mayflower21 · 29/04/2023 22:59

Thanks all for your answers. To answer questions in comments: it is a semi detached, we cook a lot/mostly using gas, one shower is electric. Insulation could be improved especially in the parts of the house that are extension. And most windows face west.

Small 2 bed 90 y.o. cottage. £235 for 3 months for the gas... Heating and cooker. Just me and DH in the house. He is out half the time at work, I work from home. Only ever put the heating thermostat to 17 C tops. It's off a lot more than it's on.

Scalessayeek · 29/04/2023 23:11

£1440 for 11th Jan to 27th April. Just the gas! We’re an old Edwardian townhouse though 🫣 2 adults, 1 school age and a 1 year old.

Redandyellowelephant · 29/04/2023 23:25
