I just don’t know how to do it anymore

Hello, I’m really at my wits end - everything is is expensive, I have no food in my cupboards - I’ve been signed off work for a month due to mental health crisis, so wages considerably reduced. Uc has taken a huge amount from what would have helped this month for a previous tax credit debt.
I’ve just received a section 21 for my house - (no fault eviction) council have told me to look as far afield as possible - with impossibly low rent. This area and beyond is at least £1200 for a 2 bed they are staying lookign for somewhere £850!
I just feel so helpless - I feel I’m failing my daughter, myself, I am so low.
i don’t know the point of this - just anyone in similar situations who can show me a light at the end of the tunnel!

You can ring debt management at DWP and ask them to reduce the repayments. Tell them you are in financial hardship. they may be able to help.
Sorry things are so difficult. It's a viscous circle with money worries and mental health, you take time off to get better but then have more worries due to less monay. If you are off longer term and earnings are below 16 x nmw per week then you can hand in sick notes to UC and wait to be assessed for work capability.

Also speak to your local council to see if they still have their household support fund going. You should also have your first UC cost of living payment of £301 coming soon ( end of April I think ) which will help . You will qualify assuming you were receiving UC during the qualifying period in jan/ feb this year. Also don't be afraid to use a food bank .

Contact Citizens Advice - they can refer you to a food bank. They will also advise you on your rights re the eviction. To cut to the chase you do not need to leave the property until there’s a court order which could take north of 6 months assuming your landlord has complied with various requirements at the start of your tenancy. So don’t panic. Speak to the housing officer at the council and apply to be on the social housing list. You are potentially homeless and they have a duty to find you somewhere (although it doesn’t necessarily need to be in the same area). You don’ t necessarily need 2 beds either - I’m afraid the reality for many is that parent(s) sleep in the living room of a one bed place - this might widen the scope for your search.

if you’ve been signed off sick you should be getting SSP - CAB can also advise on this.

Thank you both, I will definitely contact CaB tomorrow.

you’re right it’s a vicious circle this life business!
