My predicted usage for the next year is lower?

I received a letter from my energy supplier telling me of changes from 1st April.

Shocking how much standing charges are for electricity. But both my electricity and gas costs are both predicted to be lower than what I use now. So standing charges are up but prices per kWh are lower: didn't realise this will be the case.

I don't keep up to date with what's going on with energy now, all I hear is prices going up. So don't know if this is well known.

I'll attach the table they have sent me. Anyone else received similar and why it's cheaper?

My predicted usage for the next year is lower?

Is PAYG pre-pay?

I did hear that the cost of that is being reduced to the same as other payment methods. Which could be the explanation.

About time too as it's typically used by the lowest income/most vulnerable households so an absolute scandal to make people in this situation pay more, especially when they're paying upfront so can't not pay for what they use when they use it.

I wonder if this will encourage people away from direct debit? If you can PAYG for the same price it will be attractive to all the people who don't like direct debit, but don't want to pay more for their energy. I suppose you can still spread the cost if you want to by buying more in advance, but you have more control about how much/when you do so.

They've tweaked it for some reason. The cost still works out the same for average (£2500pa) usage, but slightly more for lower usage and less for higher usage.

Yes I'm on a pre payment meter.
Best thing for us actually as I would probably use more gas and electricity due to not seeing the price.
I'm glad I've got the smart meter so I know what I'm using each day and how much I've got left
