I think make these numbers up just for shits and giggles to see peoples faces. Hope it’s not too expensive and you get your lovely garden back

kessiebird · 02/05/2023 20:33

£12.54 Home Bargains.

Hope you can resolve the leak unescorted best to tackle head on than leave. Fingers crossed easy to sort out.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 02/05/2023 22:07

NSD (at last!)

Although all my DDs have come out so doesn't really feel like it 😂

Happierwithouthim · 02/05/2023 22:19

Last payment made for dds braces only four extractions to pay for & that money is in my account ready.

Theskyoutsideisblue · 03/05/2023 06:44

Love the fence @Girliefriendlikespuppies . Been awol as on holiday. You were asking re hobbies.are you sporty? Crafty?

needastrongoneagain · 03/05/2023 07:14

Morning.

Hooray for the last braces payment.

Fence is fab @Girliefriendlikespuppies!

Fingers crossed re leak and better to get it fixed now, although I can sympathise with the cold feeling in the pit of the stomach re numbers.

I didn't realise you were another Yorkshire person @marthasmum!

Nice one on the sponge @kessiebird.

Thank you so much @RumBananaSundae and @Unescorted re the spice ideas. I'm very restricted with being able to get out of the house spontaneously due to DH, but I did a bit of thinking and found some online spice companies that fulfilled the brief, which I wouldn't have thought of otherwise!

Spends
£20 online
£10 oat milk (will order today)
£41 Sainsbury's.

Today is £65 on the dogs getting groomed (DS will take them), I budget for this expense though. As are the other spends actually.

Unescorted · 03/05/2023 08:40

@needastrongoneagain if you are struggling to get them let me know which ones & I will post some over.

I am waiting for the quotes to come over... the verbal one was £800 -1000, which was sharp intake of breath territory. But it would have been more if next door hadn't already dug the trenches.

I am trying to find some oommph for today. It is sunny - I should put the washing out, I have 3 dresses that need finishing and some Spanish to do. None of the above are filling me with enthusiasm

Bornlazy · 03/05/2023 09:20

🤬 just typed a big long post and bloody lost it! So I'll start again ...

Girlie I love your fence and have serious garden envy. I think a lot of my plants that had came back the year before have perished over the winter. I keep checking them for signs of life as I had fuchsia the year before that looked dead but then started sprouting leaves on twiggy stems and eventually flowered. Basically I have no idea what I'm doing and I am just winging it in the gardening department.

Unescorted hope your leak gets fixed soon. I need some oommph too. I feel like I've been hit by a truck for some reason.

Happier how are the kittens getting on?

My post about studying had quite a lot of rants so probably best that it was lost 😉 Suffice to say I have tried and failed to make my ds study the way I want them to and all I get is resentment, so now I'm trying to be philosophical and let them learn by their mistakes.

Need to do a big food shop either today or tomorrow. And try not to buy anymore plants!

BigSkies2022 · 03/05/2023 16:26

Oo-er, leak...good luck, unescorted. DH and I know we have a big ol' job we have to do, involving (possibly) penetrating damp in a chimney breast, which ain't going to get cheaper. We're just scared to start investigating .

Today a bit pants, despite lovely weather. Took DMum to hospital, got a migraine on the way, hung around feeling like hell, drove her home very nervously. By the time I got home I didn't know whether I wanted to shit or be sick, and did both. Shivered in bed for a couple of hours and finally feeling a bit better. Didn't get to supermarket, and not going to today. DH sorting dinner.

Unescorted · 03/05/2023 20:45

Big I hate migraines. Mine are triggered by the smell of paint.... My job means that I visit a lot of newly painted houses. Not ideal. Hope it settles soon

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 03/05/2023 21:22

Thanks for all the fence love 🥰 I'm really pleased with it, born I was a complete novice when I moved in 6 years ago and don't really know what I'm doing now, I like putting plants in and am always grateful if it survives! I think gardening is a great example of if at first you don't succeed try try again.

Spent £35 today on the dogs annual hair cut, he goes in looking like a Yorkshire terrier and comes out like a Jack Russell 😂

Worked overtime today, did hardly any in April so the end of this month will look rubbish 😒

RumBananaSundae · 04/05/2023 15:17

Happier Big whoop on the final payment for the braces.

Unescorted I am not sure about the maps. That is part of the problem. I think city plans and journey paths mostly. Then I can't decide which city/town should have its own map or just be part of a journey plan. Though a nice thing to have a dilemma about. Any news on the leak?

Marthasmum I love Kew. It is one membership I do get my moneys worth from. I like the water lilies so will be visiting frequently while they come out.

Spending for the last two days has been OK. There is room for improvement. I spent £4.04 on random things in the supermarket yesterday evening.

Today I spent £12.75 on cheese and crackers for the coronation get together I am going to on Saturday. I also spend £1.50 on some chocolate milk and £1.29 on an Aldi Quavers multi pack. That I have already scoffed. Feel rather ill. I have a conference next month and need a top for the formal dinner. I had seen something online and was hoping I wouldn't like it when I saw it but I do so am considering buying it.

At the office tomorrow so hopefully no room for unfrugalness.

BigSkies2022 · 04/05/2023 16:56

Today went much better! Finally got the Big Shop done - £60 in Sainsbury's, £49 in Aldi. That will see us through a good while, just topping up on bread. I have my ingredients to make the Felicity Cloake Perfect Victoria sponge for the coronation weekend. We are at the Donmar Warehouse on Saturday night, so a proper tea, with cucumber sandwiches and cake, will see us through the evening.

I claim my expenses tomorrow and, once banked, those will get me through the weekend to blessed pay day on Tuesday.

Unescorted · 04/05/2023 17:55

Rum - I am still waiting for quotes. I will chase up tomorrow.
Our duplicate maps are mostly in the Peaks, Lakes, Highlands and the Alps. If you are looking to explore places but unsure where the OS map app is good. It is also good for long distance paths because otherwise you have to buy loads of maps & only need a very thin strip from each.

Having declared my house a republic I won't be doing coronation things - I will be making a cake, because otherwise I don't get a Birthday cake which will make me sad. I have bought lots of lemons, cream, mascapone... nom nom nom.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/05/2023 19:17

Happy early birthday wishes

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/05/2023 06:14

did I kill the thread?😂

nsd last 3 days, had a wander around towns but bought nothing, I am swithering over some work dresses but frankly as it’s pissing down today I will save my money

out of bread so will buy lunch today and a loaf

needastrongoneagain · 05/05/2023 06:45

🤣. Think there's a MN glitch @lifelongfrugaleer. I couldn't post until I'd logged out and back in yesterday.

Thanks @Unescorted. Found a great online spice shop that had 10% off first orders so have stocked up on anything I could think I might need!

Glad you feel better @BigSkies2022

Just off to Sainsbury's while the household still slumbers.

CurlsandCurves · 05/05/2023 07:56

It’s a long month this month, pay wise, almost 5 weeks. But I’ve got lots of extra hours so looking forward to that.

Dh and I are going away for the night tomorrow for his birthday. Off to Liverpool to a comedy club. And of course the city is great for shopping, and then there’s also Cheshire Oaks. I’m not planning on spending loads but I’ll see if anything takes my fancy and treat myself. I do definitely need to go to M&S as I’m out of their gorgeous perfume. That’s only about £10.

Right, best get ready for work. Have a great day everyone.

Unescorted · 05/05/2023 10:16

I was just leaving your Birthday salutations where I could see them. 😀

@needastrongoneagain glad you found a spice shop.

Ds voted for the first time yesterday. He was a little confused as to what he was doing, but to his credit he read all the leaflets & I did a quick run through of the governance structure and how many crosses before he cast his vote. I am not sure it all sunk in because he was still confused about district, county and unitary authorities. We don't have a dog so he took his Dad to leave outside the polling station instead.

BigSkies2022 · 05/05/2023 11:52

Is it your Actual Birthday tomorrow, life? Have a good one! and enjoy the cake. DH is a republican, but will eat the coronation cake regardless. That's OK: neither of us are Wimbledon finalists, but we'll both eat the Wimbledon tea I make for the event.

Still not very warm, but everything is so pretty at this point in the spring, you can forgive all. My teeny geranium plug plants have arrived, so I will be potting up this weekend.

BigSkies2022 · 05/05/2023 11:53

I mean unescorted! This is why I keep greetings more general.

Unescorted · 05/05/2023 12:12

It is Big .... the posh man with a hat stole my birthday. I am not happy.

No excuses are needed to eat cake.

Bornlazy · 05/05/2023 14:54

So having said I wasn't going to buy any plants... I bought more plants. All reduced in price as they were needing a good watering. I've left some of the dead ones in place incase they spring into life. Think I'm kidding myself on 😜

Other spends were £70 Tesco. £ 7 in Starbucks and then £16 on dinner out with a friend.

Working today so nsd hopefully.

Unescorted what a cheek stealing your birthday. Still you'll always remember the date incase you need it in a pub quiz or something

HernamewasNOLA · 05/05/2023 15:22

Hiya. We’ve had a great week. No spends until yesterday. The jazz festival is here, the lineups been good but I was mainly interested in seeing Carlos Santana and Dead and Company. So we got tickets $280 for those 2 days for DH, me and DD (DS goes free). We saw Santana yesterday which was amazing, then Dead & Company are tomorrow. It’s quite a big spend but worth it I think.
We did spend $53.08 on food and drink but it was really tasty so I can excuse it.
Then spent $26.28 on our Friday cafe breakfast.
girlie I love your fence it’s beautiful
unescorted I hope your leak gets sorted soon! And happy early birthday
big glad to hear you’re feeling better and the migraines gone!
We have nothing planned for the coronation given we’re half way across the world. My family in the UK aren’t bothered about it either really. I’ll be checking my phone for updates on it every now and then but that’s about it. Although I am excited to see the Wales kids, they always make me smile.

RumBananaSundae · 05/05/2023 19:03

Unescorted Goodo for dad being left outside.

Today was an unexpected spend. Went to an exhibition this afternoon and ended up going for a drink after so spent ~ £10.50 on a cheese and mushroom sandwich and some chocolate milk. Felt a bit cheated. The sandwich wasn’t very nice.
