Read the March one and really need to cut back here. Anyone else?

Ok my spending confessions:

Food £115.15 including broken jar of mayo 👺Luckily it was Lidl's own, so no big loss. Went to get another one and discovered I have coupon for free bakery item, so doughnut was my consolation prize 😂
Cleaning products £6.98

Total £122.13

I was expecting slightly less, but to be honest I didn't stick to my list 100% (I bought two packets of white chocolate eggs, husband took 3 bottles of pepsi max so he won't go to tesco express- we usually drink one bottle a week), and this food will last us until end of next week and some cupboard products even longer. We might need a top up of fresh food, but I don't expect much for iceberg lettuce or bananas.

livingthegoodlife · 05/04/2023 21:18

I did another top up shop today. Will post my totals so far later when I can see my list.

£14.80 on stamps! Just 6 1st & 6 2nd. Wowsers.

£5.50 on a new swimming hat.

£12.99 on goggles. £10 on kids birthday party present.

£20 on Easter eggs for godchildren.

On the plus side I made £40 extra today.

I'm having to dip into the holiday fund to pay for some of this stuff 😬

livingthegoodlife · 06/04/2023 11:06

Just totted up my grocery spends for April so far - £84! I'm on a strict no more groceries for the following week. Madness 🙈 also very stressful.

xogossipgirlxo · 07/04/2023 23:37

Hope everyone's enjoying Easter weekend. We went for a walk today, husband keeps cleaning small bedroom, so it's ready for baby stuff (after he paints walls etc. 😬), I made cake, cleaned bathroom etc. Tomorrow I will finish cleaning and do the rest of cooking for Easter.

£33.75 spent on Tropic order

Imabitchimaloverimachildimamother · 10/04/2023 10:50

I have to start again today as my day one...

livingthegoodlife · 10/04/2023 19:05

Struggling for food ideas as running low. Fried egg, chips and beans tonight. Not sure about tomorrow? I have potatoes and onions and carrots. About 4 eggs. Flour/marg. Maybe pesto pasta. Also have a load of cream. No cheese or ham.

Will be shopping on Thursday. Can't break until then as already over budget, plus kids clubs start again next week 😬

xogossipgirlxo · 10/04/2023 21:24

I need to be careful with spending on food too, because of Easter. May should be easier, as we don’t have any plans for bank holidays etc. We are going on holiday, but it’s all budgeted for.

How was everyone’s Easter break? I wish there was one more day off work.

Sold 1 pair of too big maternity jeans on vinted, yay. I pair left, but I’m not in a rush. Who knows how big my belly is going to get. I started week 26 today and feeling heavier every day. 9 weeks until maternity leave. Counting weeks down😂

@livingthegoodlife what about tortilla / Spanish omlette with the potatoes onions and eggs?

Or pancakes with the flour and eggs. Do you have any lemon or orange that could go on top?

moimichme · 11/04/2023 07:16

Hi all, managed a couple of NSDs over the holiday weekend. For once, we didn't go too over the top with food and chocolate. Tried very hard to stick to the list, and that helped a wee bit.

Meal plan for the rest of this week (shop on Sat):
Burgers and chips
Nut roast with mashed potatoes and root veg
Red pesto pasta
Leftover homemade veg curry/baked beans with baked potato
Ratatouille lentil chilli pasta

Good luck all, let's aim for some NSDs this week.

Imabitchimaloverimachildimamother · 11/04/2023 07:28

Yesterday I spent I think 34.29 euro in tesco but that was for 51.68 worth of shopping with my vouchers so happy with that.

livingthegoodlife · 11/04/2023 07:38

Picked up some bits from olio last night. Now have soured cream, coriander, croissants & blueberries.

Breakfast is sorted.

I like the idea of Spanish omelette, I think I'll do that tonight. My other idea was onion quiche but I'm not sure the kids would be so keen. Thanks for the idea.

I might try and make a curry with the root veg, no tinned tomatoes though. I could just use stock cube for sauce with curry paste?

Definitely aiming for a NSD today and tomorrow. Then groceries Thursday.

We didn't spend much for Easter as the kids got gifts from family and we just had chilli con carne for dinner. It was a nice day though.

NoAprilFool · 11/04/2023 08:11

Can I join you? Really need to get a grip of my spending, so much of it is just frittering away on nonsense things that don’t add to my quality of life.
£2 bus fare already this morning but I did have breakfast at home rather than telling myself I don’t have time and buying a croissant at work. My waistline will also thank me!!

xogossipgirlxo · 11/04/2023 09:59

@NoAprilFool welcome 😊

I spent £10.99 this morning for foundation I bought on ebay. I really wanted BB cream that costs £22, but not this time. Mascara and brow gel are running low, so I will need to spend another approx. 15-20 quid on these two.

Also, I realised that my calculation was wrong and I've got 12 weeks left until maternity leave. Ugh. Hard reality check 😬My husband was so kind he didn't say anything LOL.

NoAprilFool · 11/04/2023 18:52

Hopefully the weeks fly by!

£4 bus and £4:10 for tofu and porridge oats. I did a weekly shop on Saturday but had no idea what we’d eat this week so will try to be better planned next week

livingthegoodlife · 12/04/2023 17:22

Only 1.80 on milk today. I'm very proud of myself for holding out until tomorrow to go grocery shopping properly.

I did have Spanish omlette for dinner btw and it was delicious! Just plain pesto pasta for all tonight.

NoAprilFool · 12/04/2023 19:48

Well done!
not so good for me. I’m finding this useful though…
£25 on a top up grocery shop
£10 onto my Starbucks card
£10 for ice creams for my daughter and friend (they gave me 60p change 🙄)

tomorrow will also be bad - going to the theatre and dinner beforehand

xogossipgirlxo · 12/04/2023 19:50

NSD today, tomorrow is grocery top up day🫠

Veryfaraway · 12/04/2023 21:17

We were away in Edinburgh last weekend so it was a bit spendy but I've been back on low spend since we got back. Sold 2 items on vinted which will pay for the school uniform bits dd needs quite urgently.

grannycake · 13/04/2023 06:58

NSD yesterday. Will need a smallish Aldi/lidl shop today. We;re off on our travels on Monday ao busy washing, ironing and packing

livingthegoodlife · 13/04/2023 11:36

£79 on groceries today. Doesn't feel very "low spend". Total this month £158 on groceries.

I bought some secondhand school dresses on eBay but they've never arrived despite me messaging seller. I've got a refund but it's a bit annoying as it was a cheap bundle. Noone on marketplace sells gingham dresses. I might have to trawl the charity shops.

Kids having a sleepover tonight so lots of extra sweets and pizza in. They'll have fun though.

xogossipgirlxo · 13/04/2023 14:04

@grannycake exciting!

xogossipgirlxo · 13/04/2023 19:58

£40 in asda for groceries top up. This includes coffee and gluten free stuff for husband, so quite pricey. Also 4 protein bars for husband, it’s his namesday today, so I will give him those with lego lighting kit
£20 on vinted for 2 maternity dresses

I am in need of maternity leggings. Saw nice ones in asda, not see through but they didn’t have my size. Need to order online. 14 quid for 2 pairs, not too bad.

moimichme · 14/04/2023 20:52

Right, some spendy days- but somewhat planned.
£150 for hen do later this summer
£60 top up groceries 😭 - this after a £87 delivery order for cupboard foods like passata etc. recently. But DH paid that one.
Something else I've forgotten! Will try and update later.
Safe travels granny and good luck all for this weekend!

moimichme · 15/04/2023 08:59

Oh I've remembered. £16.50 for pool and a pair of kids goggles with ds on Wednesday.

I may buy a denim jacket with some nice big pockets today, especially if I find one at the charity shop. Or I may just rely on my black bomber style jacket as the weather warms up hopefully soon, come on, spring! except for the fact that it may be too warm in the sunshine (since it's black). That's all I might want/need clothing-wise for now, though.

xogossipgirlxo · 15/04/2023 10:34

Morning all😊 Happy weekend

my recent spendings:
£14 for leggings in asda
£58 for another tropic order. Everything is needed at the same time😵‍💫

Visit to boots or superdrug planned too, but it shouldn’t be much. I should stop eating so I can afford toiletries😂
