Don't know if I selected the correct option in the money thread section but I was wondering if someone could help me, I'm clue less when it comes to pensions!- i know I've always paid into one whenever I've been working but with each job is it a different pension? Or will they all be together using my NI number ?

Did you not get any annual pension statements from any of these pensions?

They won’t all be joined together in one big pot unless you have made arrangements to combine any of them. Google X pension plan, it should bring up the details of where to contact.
eg if you worked for Asda for any time, Google Asda employee pension & it brings up a link. If you can’t find the details you may have to contact your old workplace HR department or management directly.

I was wondering this too!

Yes, it will be different pension pots for each job. You should have been sent paperwork for each scheme so see if you can find any of that, and it will give you contact details.

If that doesn’t help you can use this service to track down lost pensions: www.gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details

You should be getting yearly statements from each one. If not you need to start looking for them and make sure your addresses are up to date on them all. From that you will be able to calculate your future potential income from them.

With your new job, ask payroll/HR about the workplace pension scheme. They should have given you something about it by this point, maybe it is within an employee handbook. If they use a pension provider like Nest Pensions or The Peoples Pension then I expect you will get a welcome pack from the pension provider within a couple of weeks. It is not uncommon for someone to not be auto-enrolled in a pension scheme during their first 3 months in a new job. Auto-enrolment starts from month 4 and you get sent details about the scheme.
