Hi everyone,

I hope it's OK to post here. A little about me and why I'm here. Like everyone, costs are rocketing. We have already made changes to our food shop and energy bills but have just been given our rate rise for end of June and it equates to an extra £250 a month. We have decided to live as frugally as possible (we aren't big spenders anyway) and try and overpay a lump sum in June when our rate is so much lower.

I also want to make sure we have stuff to look forward to, so free/cheap days out. Luckily we are NT members, we are in a slightly awkward area for properties but expanding the net a bit wider and there are new places to visit, we also have EH until the end of April (bought with Clubcard vouchers) and RHS until August (again, CC vouchers) but to be honest there isn't much near us, we got it whilst on holiday near Harrogate to visit RHS Harlow Carr. I've been looking at CC and there are a few other things nearby and things like Cineworld which I hadn't realised, haven't been to the cinema for years but actually works out quite economical with the vouchers. We don't drink/smoke/have expensive hobbies (apart from gardening which can be a bit pricey!)

It's just my husband and I, we enjoy walking and cycling which are usually free or a small parking charge (plus fuel of course but have a small car).

We have two family birthdays in March but no other planned big expenses. Roof is leaking but can't really do much about it atm.

Hopefully you'll join me on the journey!

Laurel x

Day one - only cost today has been just over a pound for parking at work (that's not the total cost, rest comes out of our pay). We have pots for food and petrol, no general costs today.
