Big change in home finances coming our way

Ok, so there is going to be a very sudden drop in our income. DH is changing jobs due to burn out. It involves a big drop in wages but has to be done. We don’t have a choice. I’m working but not on great money. We have found a way to clear some debts. We have no savings left after that.
So, we will be on a very tight budget from next month. Hit me with your best budgeting, money saving tips please. we have to make this work. He can’t stay working where he is and putting in the hours he has been, it’s too much. He is off sick at the moment and getting help. I can see his mood lifting already, so that’s the most important thing right now.
I really want to make our finances balance so this will not be another thing to stress him out.

I've done a few things recently...

  1. Got rid of tv license as don't watch live tv or iPlayer and alternate between prime and Netflix
  1. Use Olio app for free food near sell by date and Too Good to go app for cheap bags of groceries
  1. Drop a brand on shopping and use Aldi and Lidl more
  1. Heated throw is anyone works from home so heating doesn't need to be on
  1. Use free trials like simply cook, green chef and meal delivery for free meals and ingredients
  1. Check freecycle before buying anything for house
  1. Use quidco or topcashback on all purchases
  1. Look at getting a water meter , my bills for 2 of us have been slashed and a smart meter to monitor fuel use
  1. Use dehumidifier to dry clothes or outside rather than a dryer
  1. EBay old mobile phones etc

  2. Switch mobile to a cheap pay as you go SIM when you.are out of contract , I pay 6 quid a month with massive data and unlimited mins and get quidco cash back if you switch !

  3. Batch cook and freeze !

Very best of luck, having a loved one under huge pressure at work is dreadful. Can you rent a room? Lodgers aren't for everyone but it might work for you.
House swap rather than holiday?
If you have a pet - budget for insurance and bills. X

There were some great tips on another thread. I can only remember bits but changing your shower head to a slow flow one saves on electric/hot water. That was one that I had never thought of.

and you'll save on shampoo as well because you can only use a tiny amount because you can't rinse it out.

I have a spreadsheet, best thing ever. Everything I didn't need on subscription, I cancelled. We both had amazon prime for example. Not used amazon in months! Don't miss it and they seem have hiked their prices up since covid.

I write a list of every milk I can cook from the freezer/store cupboard and then shop for fresh stuff and top ups
