I remember seeing this spoken of on MN years ago and wanting to buy one then, but dh vetoed it. So I am absolutely DELIGHTED to see the Chimney Sheep on Country File just now.

Congratulations, and long may your fab enterprise continue. I am so glad you succeeded and pleased that you can help people in such a practical economical way now, when we really really need it.

Brilliant.

i just tried to look at the link and it said für to high traffic there was a minutes wait to get on the website!

catskittens · 22/01/2023 19:30

just use a pillow like what you would use in a bedroom

Jux · 22/01/2023 22:43

We're currently not using our sitting room at all, just keep the door shut, if only I'd ignored dh when they were first spoken of here, like you Bonbon!

I can't get on the site either, but I'm determined to have one for next winter - unless we move house before then, which we are certainly considering but it may take at least a year to get our rather falling down house into any sort of saleable state.

If I had a spare pillow, then I could use that, but I don't so I stuff newspaper up there. The howling winds coming down the chimney dislodge them all too easily. The room has no form of heating anyway, unless we take the electric oil-filled radiator in there which doesn't happen except when dd's visiting from Uni. Mostly the radiator's used in the kitchen. Mostly, I just stay in bed when it's cold, quite honestly.

We have one in our draughty living room and its great, as pp said stops all your heat disappearing up the chimney. It must have saved us a small fortune by now.

BitOutOfPractice · 22/01/2023 22:51

I had one in my old house. Genius it was.

why the hell on god’s green earth would your dh veto something that saves money and energy and makes your home cosier?

As a sort of LTB-y aside, who gave him the veto?

WeirdPookah · 23/01/2023 13:28

We have one and it's great, considering we live a couple streets back from the coast and it's nearly always windy! You can hear the wind howling behind it and it stops nearly everything if you position it right, our chimney was hard to get the right fit.

NomadicSoul · 26/01/2023 18:14

I've got one ready for when we stop using the fire. As has been said, the staff there were very friendly and very helpful.

Shamoo · 26/01/2023 23:48

We have two of these and it’s made a massive difference!
