Thought I'd start the new thread. Been ages since I started a thread!

I love a HM naan

needastrongoneagain · 02/03/2023 07:49

I've screen shot that message @Unescorted!! Cheers 🙃 That recipe for naan sounds fab!

OP posts:
Girliefriendlikespuppies · 02/03/2023 07:51

Thank you those recipes sounds amazing, I'm assuming you could batch make some and freeze them?

I'm going to give it a go.

Happierwithouthim · 02/03/2023 08:44

Spendy week I'm not even going to post it all.
My 40th celebrations, visit to eye surgeon & dds confirmation, dentist today
Yesterday
Car wash €10
Balloons & cards €20
Makeup €30
Hair for 2 €50
Lunch €8
Drinks €8
Barman gave me a free round because I deal with him through my work Smile
My share of meal out €229.60

So I'm off to set up a vault for ds's in 2 years time Smile

Interesting to read yer ninja talk.
My dm & dsis will buy me one for my 40th.
I've had an actifry and currently have a halo and love that they toss your food so it cooks evenly. Ninja are the holy grail but don't have this feature, I'm torn with indecision.

A lovely fellow poster here gave my the spicery's curry legend kit a few years ago. I now make my own naan bread too, it's epic & shop bought is no comparison Wink

Happierwithouthim · 02/03/2023 08:50

€280
Electricity bill just in
This is bi monthly
I've €270 budgeted so far & will have €300 in that YNAB category by time bill comes out, I've credits from SuperValu reward card & from last government credit so €251.17 will come out of my bank.

Happierwithouthim · 02/03/2023 08:51

The next government credit of €200 probably won't hit my account before then but it'll cover most of next bill.

ememem84 · 02/03/2023 12:35

Scored a win today. New client. Wooo. All on the basis of a coffee. Winner winner.

Happierwithouthim · 02/03/2023 12:41

Starem

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 02/03/2023 20:15

Nsd today and Ystd.

Also got dds bursary money for her bus fare which is good. I need to check how I claim £50 from the rcn for the strike day I took last month.

Dd is off to crufts next week with college which is also free as we got the full bursary, I'm so pleased I applied for it.

kessiebird · 02/03/2023 20:51

Going back to check out the naan bread recipes now and have a go this weekend 😋 see no reason why they couldn't be batch cooked and frozen.

Happy 40th birthday happier when it comes.

Great news about the new client em

Love the sound of Crufts for your DD girlie amazing experience.

Spendy ish day.
£41.50 make up and hair colour. Got £7 back in points on my Boots card, plus a free gift set from No7.
£10 lunch, treat for payday.
£4 bus fares although saving on fuel.

BigSkies2022 · 02/03/2023 21:07

NSD today and have painted the loo using the remains of a tin from a previous job. Second coat tomorrow, so hope it's OK. Will probably need to buy satinwood to finish the woodwork, but that colour is used everywhere in the house, so there won't be any waste - always a skirting board, somewhere, that could use some attention! .

I"ve started listening to Money To The Masses podcast and signed up for their newsletters. I might, just might, start saving into a Wealthify stocks & shares ISA - need to do a bit more research.

needastrongoneagain · 03/03/2023 06:32

Morning.

I made chapatti last night, I'm on a roll!

All my spends yesterday were either expenses or from budgeted pots, but I'm at the top of my generous food one (albeit there's been a few bits for DH within that).

Low spend weekend planned.

Must listen to some of those podcasts you mention @BigSkies2022

OP posts:
Theskyoutsideisblue · 03/03/2023 07:08

Nsd yesterday and did my expenses. System is so complex it’s like they want you to give up.

Wolfcub · 03/03/2023 08:05

Spendy day yesterday £300 training £30 work expenses which I can claim most back £55 shopping

I have again lost track of the thread (sorry) but was very grateful for payday this week.

Due to a combination of circumstances and sheer exhaustion tonight will involve a takeaway

BigSkies2022 · 03/03/2023 12:42

the curse of the pink paint has struck again! the pink that looks a beautiful, pale, subtle neutral in an east-facing kitchen window recess downstairs, when applied to the exact same orientation walls of the upstairs loo, turns a horrible peachy-orange. In fact, it looks like someone ate a tin of peaches, then threw it up. Have assured a disconcerted DH that I will repaint. Not quite ready to throw in the towel and revert to plain white, but I think I will go for an LG Slaked Lime which I know I can use elsewhere. Oh well. It would have been a useful few quid saved, but life is too short to endure an ugly lav.

Aubergine parmigiana tonight, off to buy ingredients and get some steps in at my own pace before I take Ddog out. Hoping to get a nice big walk in somewhere in the Kent High Weald this weekend before the forecast cold snap sweeps in.

need - I love podcasts. Rather like this thread, they're great substitutes for live company (and as such, may be the best or worst thing that could happen for introverts like me...).

Taytocrisps · 03/03/2023 13:55

Big that reminds me of the time we painted our bathroom rubber duck yellow. The little patch we tested looked fine but the whole room painted in that colour was quite overwhelming. It would practically hit you in the face when you went into the bathroom first thing in the morning Grin. We moved house subsequently and I've been a bit wary of painting anything yellow since then.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 03/03/2023 18:25

Is anyone else struggling to get on the hsbc app?

Spent £28 in the co-op, top up shop which I'm hoping will do us most of next week. Included their 5 month terms for £6 which is always a good deal.

kessiebird · 03/03/2023 20:36

bigskies I enjoy your painting tales. I need motivation. We've got the whole house to paint this year, luckily DH is really good - also use a Valspar paint but use the Navy Bean (greyish cream) which goes with absolutely everything! It's been four years since the last time so it's now desperate.

I also love podcasts while in the gym or doing housework. Money for the Masses sounds perfect!

Unexpected but I found a car on my first day of hunting. Bit of a one off so snapped up. Pick up at the end of next week, just need to set up insurance and tax and I'm ready to go! Such a relief to have found one.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 03/03/2023 20:43

The co-op have taken the money out twice 🙄 do I take that up with them or with the bank? I thought that might happen as they told me the till had crashed so I had to put it through twice.

kessiebird · 03/03/2023 20:50

Oh that's annoying girlie if it's pending one of the payments might drop off but I'd call the bank to check.

BigSkies2022 · 03/03/2023 22:26

Valspar Navy Bean you say, kessie? Hmmm....I would not have guessed greige from that name, but sounds good. Rubber duck yellow is a brave, brave choice, tayto. I quite like a bit of mustard/ochre/honey in a rug or a cushion. Or even a sofa. Love a vase of daffodils or yellow tulips!

DH came home with M&S boeuf bourgignon and made mash to go with it. So aubergine parmigiana tomorrow. The low-meat regime has got to hell this week.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/03/2023 07:32

We have a whole house up paint too and as quite scuffed now. Dh can do it when he retires

rubber duck yellow must have been quite a sight to behold
sorry the pink didn’t work

spending on food yesterday = bonkers what are we eating next week = no clue
did I get everything = no

Wolfcub · 04/03/2023 09:09

Also loving the painting tales but I loathe Valspar paint. If anyone remembers my tale of putting three coats of it on the kitchen wall last year and the wall never changed colour. One coat of dulux = instant difference.

Takeaway was vile, complete waste of money so I'm irritated now

Need to go to lidl this morning and then for a couple of drinks with a friend before they have an op

Today will be mostly cleaning. Ds has promised to make dinner but we will see what actually happens. Could also do with baking something

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/03/2023 09:20

I remembered the paint rage wolf
boo to crappie takeaway

WeightoftheWorld · 04/03/2023 10:09

Fell off the thread yet again!

Only caught up this last page sorry.

Happier Hope you have enjoyed your birthday celebrations!

Not sold on air fryers. I don't really understand their appeal, what is that they're supposed to do that I can't cook another way? Is it they are cheaper to run than an oven?

Well done on the new client Em.

Wolf I hate having a crap takeaway! I always feel so aggrieved!

Quite spendy times atm. Today am going to take the kids to the play cafe for drinks and cakes which will be pretty ££ and get DD's fringe trimmed. I need to do some clothes shopping for me and DD too at some point so might do that online later. Thinking maybe H&M or Peacocks for my blue light discount, Girlie do you have any suggestions for good places to buy cheap clothes with blue light discount? I have had my card about 2 months and am yet to use it!

Funny all the painting talk, DH is going to hopefully finally finish the painting in the spare bedroom which is going to become DD's bedroom. It's only one small room but he started it weeks ago as we had to keep stopping and starting due to sorting the kids, and he was ill, then DD was ill, then DS was ill all one after the other (not the same illnesse! completely different ones). Praying the painting will FINALLY be done today. Then we can crack on cleaning it and sorting the furniture and move DD into it sometime over the next couple of weeks fingers crossed. It's a fairly bright pink colour the walls, her choice! We used Valspar, it's seemed fine but we did do 3 coats. But the walls weren't white before they were a very very pale blue (almost white - if that makes sense) so possibly that's partly why? It has been our first time painting walls so we didn't have a clue really!
