Solar panel installation

We are in the process of getting a few quotes. For anyone who has had solar panels installed in the last year or so - what size system did you get, ie what size battery etc, and how much has it saved you on your electricity bill?

We have been quoted from £9,000 to £12,000 with several imbetween.

Thanks

We have 6kw panels and 7.5kw battery. Not had it in summer yet so hard to assess savings, but it is definitely saving us already and we've only had it in the dark months of the year.

Your quotes should include projected savings. They were very accurate estimates for us (which I think is normal - solar is more predictable than you might think)

We have 11 panels and 15kw battery. Our gas and electric bill used to be £250 a month on direct debt. We have probably saved about 2k in our first year. Panels and battery should be about 7-8 year payback

That’s very similar to our savings/payback. Also 11 panels and two 7.5kw batteries. We paid £11k for ours.

We had 14 panels (6kw output but some are East to West so 5.2kw max output) and a 13.5kw battery fitted last February (October for the battery) and it has exceeded our original projection by about 10%. I estimate that on average it is saving us around £3k per year, so £250 a month - perhaps more like £300 in Winter.

Our system was quite expensive (optimisers, Powerwall etc) but will still payback in 7-8 years and obviously gives us security if prices were to increase. There are six of us in our house and at this time of year our energy costs are zero - our export pays for the gas for our hot water, and overnight battery charging.

I would recommend them, but we are a high usage family. I wouldn’t recommend getting a solar water diverter at present, because export rates are higher than they used to be, so better to export.

Urgh, I’ve realised this is a zombie thread ! Hopefully still useful for people thinking about them !

Yes - it was still useful! Thank you
