Looking for advice

Hay2023 · 17/01/2023 20:27

Hi everyone

Just looking for some advice. Please no judgemental comments... Im feeling down enough about this entire situation as it is

Does anyone have any tips on how to make quick cash?

With the minus tempretures in the UK we are seriously struggling to keep our home warm for our 1 year old and I'm so worried about the effects it could have health wise.

I unfortunately don't have any friends and family who I can borrow from until payday next week as everyone is in the same boat.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you xx

Switch your bank account, you can earn up to £200. There's a chap on youtube who tells you what to do, if you don't want to click on the link, google Andy Clever Cash, Lloyds Bank £200 switching offer - How to get it and avoid the fees (Jan UK Current Account update)

As much as I would absolutely love to do this im currently a stay at home mum and don't meet the switch criteria. When I've enquired with several banks you have to have so much deposited into your account a month. Thank you though xx

Are you on a prepayment meter or paying by direct debit? Energy companies cannot cut off your supply if you have a baby or young children.

Sorry to hear yourebstruggling. Could you go back to work?

I'm on oil unfortunately so once it's gone it's gone. I'm trying hard not to have it on so I don't run My current supply out. I have one eletric heater which I am using over night in my child's bedroom to keep the room warm. I need to raise some funds to get some more heaters together for other rooms in the house. X

This is something I'm working on, but in the process of finding a job and then sorting childcare. But got to somehow survive in the meantime. X

I do matched betting when I'm running low. I'll be starting it up again soon when I go on maternity leave. I started with oddsmonkey and their free offers. You do need a bit of money to start with but you can make a decent amount a day, stake and exchange dependent, with it if you keep at it.

What do you have that you could sell on FB Marketplace? Ebay, if you can wait a few days for the cash. Baby clothes/equipment/toys? Your clothes? Shoes? Stuff that's cluttering the shed? Applicances you don't use?

Hello everyone.

We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong.

Though, we strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP – we really hope you get it all sorted soon. Flowers

I'm slightly confused as to why this has been reported... i have not asked for or accepted any cash from anyone on this group? Or gifts for that matter I am simply asking for advice as I'm going through an extremely tough time trying to provide for my little one. Maybe I'd be better not to ask in the future... I have no idea 😪

You could try to apply for money from the household support fund, ask your health visiting team. Or some local charities may give grants to help. Your Child and Family Centre may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck, it’s tough at the moment x

Are you entitled to any benefits? Can your partner do any extra work?
A Trussell Trust Food Bank maybe able to provide a voucher for extra electricity.

When I've enquired with several banks you have to have so much deposited into your account a month

thats not true of some of the deals on offer right now

ive just switched to first direct and as long as I deposit £1000 in the firs 3 months - and I could put in and take out £ 100 times 10 transactions by bank transfer for it to count - then they will give me £175

ivykaty44 · 18/01/2023 16:47

I have one eletric heater which I am using over night in my child's bedroom to keep the room warm.

tbh you may be better moving your dc bed into your room and all of you sleeping in the same room - that way you all benefit from the heater and only have one heater using electric. Added to the fact that more people in one room also keeps the rooms warmer

Have a look at the energy help section on Moneysavingexpert. There's a link on the homepage if MN scrambles the link. Have a good read and see if there's any extra help you can apply for.

Is there a local FB page for your area that offers stuff for free. I've seen some electric heaters recently on the ones local to me.
