Massive rent increase!

My mum’s rent has gone up from £700 pcm to £1450 pcm! She’s been paying £700 since 2012. She is retired and does get housing benefit. However, I’m assuming there is no way she will get extra help with this increase. Has anyone on housing benefit had such a massive rent increase and what help was there? There’s limited social housing in her area. This is why private rents need capping asap! I know social housing rents are.

I'm pretty sure by law they're only allowed to increase by 10% per year.
Double check with citizens advice though x

It’s Been to a tribunal so presume the rise was lawful

No the benchmark is market rate - there will be circumstances where an uplift of more than 10% is required to bring up to current market rates especially in a rising market

Landlord has to compensate for repairs and upgrades by law!!! They don't get to leave it like shit then refuse to compensate, the court has already decided.
