We don't have a smart meter.
I have no idea how to calculate our usage.
Readings on 22nd November for
Gas: 4934 and today is 4960
Electric: 48978 and today is 49138

My electricity rates are 33.859p per kWh and your standing charge per day is 52.64p.

Your gas rates are 10.425p per kWh and your standing charge per day is 28.48p.

I literally have no idea how to work out roughly how much we've spent since 22nd November 🤷🏻‍♀️
Can anyone help with this please? 🙏🏼

Your gas rates are changing from 7.476p to 10.425p per kWh and your standing charge per day is changing from 27.22p to 28.48p.

Electric: 160kwh, so £54.17 plus your standing charge of 20? days at £10.53 - £64.70 altogether.

NewBootsAndRanty · 12/12/2022 19:00

Gas is 26 units, assuming your meter measures in m³.
The formula (roughly) to change that into kwh is
26 x 1.02264 (volume conversion factor) x 38 (calorific value) ÷ 3.6 = 281 kwh of gas or close enough.
£29.30 of gas used, 20 days standing charge £5.69 for 20 days; £35 in all

I'd give it a round figure of £100.

dementedpixie · 12/12/2022 19:07

I multiplied the 26 gas units (m³?) By 11.2 to get a rough value of 291 kwh

I get gas to be roughly £30 plus £5.70 standing charge

Electricity 160kwh gives about £54 with £10.53 standing charge.

A total of around £100 like PP got

Don’t forget 5% vat

NewBootsAndRanty · 12/12/2022 20:26

I think the rates given include VAT already.

Very good point. That's where I was adrift with my calculations today!

ivykaty44 · 12/12/2022 21:45

Op who supplies your gas and electric?

do you not have an online account where you can input your reading and it’ll automatically give you the customer?

BarbaraofSeville · 13/12/2022 07:35

Do you have your previous bills? Or is this your first house?

It shows the calculation on your bill, including how to convert m3 to kWh for gas.

How do you pay for your utilities? Why do you want to know how much it's cost over the past few weeks?

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/12/2022 22:18

Simple way if older boiler each unit is 32

So 26 x 32 is 832 x 10p so £83

Plus sc of 28p x 31 - £8.68 so has bill will be £92 plus vat

I think lol

NewBootsAndRanty · 13/12/2022 22:22

The meter reading/kwh conversion you need has nothing to do with the age of your boiler.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/12/2022 22:40

I was told it was as mine is an old boiler like 25yrs + old something to do with cubic feet ?

all I know I have to times my units on meter by 32

NewBootsAndRanty · 13/12/2022 22:51

You either have an imperial or metric meter. Imperial meters measure in cubic feet/hundreds of cubic feet , metric measure in cubic metres. Absolutely nothing to do with your boiler, just the age of the actual meter.

It's to do with having an old meter measuring in ft³ not an old boiler. Other meters measure in m³

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/12/2022 23:17

Oh so it’s my meter that is old

def ancient. Like it’s owner 😂
