Energy bill £2000 2 bed flat

My energy bill is estimated as the below:
Electricity £670.75
Gas £1,326.95
Total £1997

This is up about a third from last year’s bill.

We have a small 2 bed Victorian attic flat.

Does this sound like an expensive bill? If you live in a 2 bed, what do you pay?

(I’ve only just learnt how to use our thermostat and timer. We left it on the previous owners settings for years and while we always thought our bills were a bit more than we were used to in previous homes we never really thought about it until all the news stories this year. Am wondering if we’ve actually been heating our house excessively! It turns out I didn’t understand the timer and while I thought it was on for a few hours, it may have been on 8 hours + per day.)

2 bed Victorian tenement here. Pay about £1500 per year total

If it's only up a third you're doing well, the price of electricity has more than doubled and gas gone up 3 to 4 times so this is the sort of increase you should expect, but would then need to account for the various grants that have been given.

£2000 is probably about right for that size property. The price cap amount is based on a 2 or 3 bed house.

Sound about right. I'm in a Victorian 4 bed and I'm paying 6k a year.

First floor flat in a purpose built block. Paying £100 a month, which about equals the bill, but the government money is adding to my credit. I don't have gas.

I refuse to use my heating as it only has electric heaters - they tripled my electricity bill when I first used them (£58 a month to £185 a month) so I'm certainly not using them now. DS8 and I have Oodies to wear instead and are definitely warm enough.

I use my washer-dryer most days as I prefer to dry my clothes in the machine rather than have damp clothes hanging on the airer. As the flat is so cold they take ages to dry and then I can't put anymore washing on!

I also bought an air fryer instead of using the oven too which is helping.

That works out about £166 a month minus the £66 government help gives you a monthly bill of around £100. Your bill may be higher or lower than this amount depending on how much gas and electric you actually use. I would get your energy company's phone app and take monthly gas and electric readings so that you can see exactly how much energy you are using.

Depends on your insulation (and if downstairs are heating their flat :) ) The gas sounds a lot to me.

I suspect your actual bill might be lower than that - your estimates will be based on last year's usage and it sounds like you might have been using more than you needed

2 bed Victorian flat in London, estimated annual bill is £2040.

I’m in a 3 bed detached house, 1960s build and my estimated annual usage is £1900 - though the estimated bill is based on my weekly meter readings, so pretty much accurate.

I’ve got loft insulation and cavity wall insulation, which helps keep bills lower

Mines worse for a one bed. £1500 gas £900 electric. Life is just expensive now.
