Missing universal credit cost if living payment

My started a newuniversal credit claim on 13th September this year. My assessment period is from 13th September to 12th October and I qualified and am receiving payments. However I haven't received a cost of living payment of £324. I know that they were paying up until today but there is no payment showing in my account. The qualify dates for this payment are within my assessment period. Does anyone know if a) I qualify and b) who to contact fro a missing payment?

I’m not sure, but I know for the first one you had to be in receipt of said benefit months before hand. I’m not sure you qualify if you’ve only just started to get it in sept?

I'd say you were eligible OP. According to this government site, you would be eligible for the second cost of living payment:

"You will be eligible for the second Cost of Living Payment of £324 if you were entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022."

The same site says "most" people will have received their payment by 23/11. So doesn't mean you have been missed - I'm not sure how they organise it. Do you have a portal thingy for UC where you can send messages? Could you ask on there? Sorry, I'm on the old style tax credits so I'm completely different.

Following with interest. I received the first payment and should have received the second but still nothing. I seem to recall the first one came through really early so I'm surprised the second hasn't materialised yet!

26th august - 25th September. As you started your claim in September you're not entitled.

FlemCandango · 23/11/2022 07:21

I am really sorry op, your first assessment period did not "end" within the qualifying dates 26/8 -25/9 so you won't get a COL payment. Your claim started within that time but it didn't end which is the wording of the guidance.

PinkButtercups · 23/11/2022 07:21

You aren't entitled to it due to your assessment period. Phone to double check but 90% sure you aren't entitled to it.

If you can, contact the DWP then ask about the payment and see if there is a way you can still get it.

By end they mean an assessment period completed in those dates, and then you got your UC payment. If you can argue that you qualified for UC a month earlier you may be able to argue that you should get the COLP but you will need to discuss it with the JC+.

MrNook · 23/11/2022 07:31

You're not entitled to it, your claim was started too late to be eligible s

MrNook · 23/11/2022 07:33

Your assessment period had to end between 26th Aug and 25th Sep

Babyroobs · 23/11/2022 13:32

As others have said you are not eligible for the payment as your assessment period ended after the cut off date. Your claim started too late to qualify.

Imnotswallowingthat · 23/11/2022 16:08

Did you receive any kind of tax credits prior to the UC assessment dates ? If you got either Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit in the period 26th August to 25th September then you would still get the payment but they have up until the 30th November to pay it.
