So I do work more than 16 hours but pro-rata on my wage it would be £10,240. I work in a contact centre.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 10/11/2022 20:41

Dentist, 2 days, 30k.

Saturdaydreamingway2355555 · 10/11/2022 20:42

I’d get about £17500 if I worked 16 hours a week, emergency services

megletthesecond · 10/11/2022 20:44

Administrator. 11k.

Suzie0003 · 10/11/2022 21:00

HCA £13,600

Blimey I need to be a dentist.

Farm secretary is a good option if you're minded. 20k ish for 16 hours per week I'd say is about average at the minute. Often very flexible too.

What?!

£20k for 16 hours equates to £100k for 40 hours.

Whereabouts are these mythical jobs?

Laurendelaney1987 · 10/11/2022 22:27

£100k for a dentist sounds about right! It takes a good few years study and training, and only the folks with top higher / al level results even get on the course

ConkerBonkers · 10/11/2022 22:28

Peekachoochoo get your calculator back out!

£20k for 16 hours equates to £100k for 40 hours

No, 20k for 16 hours equates to about 50k for 40 hours. It breaks down to 10k for 8 hours and you can work up from there :)

Laurendelaney1987 · 10/11/2022 22:28

Ooh.. I need to work on my reading skills!

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 10/11/2022 22:33

If I did 16 hrs a week my annual salary would be £33,800, Information Security & Governance.

Not sure it's really helpful to get a list of numbers and job titles though.

How much do you need to earn to make your finances work and what skills and experience do you have?

DistrictCommissioner · 10/11/2022 22:35

What is a farm secretary? I live in farming country & never met with one!

I would earn £15k a year in my job, administrator in a charity.

KatieMorag5 · 10/11/2022 22:42

I work 25 hours a week and earn £12,000 per year, it’s a shocking salary for my role imo but I’m fortunate my partner has a much better income and we don’t depend on my wage financially. I work in a pharmacy department in a NHS hospital.

Bubblemilk · 10/11/2022 22:49

8.7k as an early help worker in a charity.

12 hrs term time only, 3 hours all year round. Self employed SEND specialist tutor.

HungryKoala · 10/11/2022 23:01

£6.2k working in a primary school kitchen. Term time only so no childcare to pay for. Was in a managerial position doing a lot more hours but my eldest struggles with her MH so I needed to be at home more.

tillyandmilly · 10/11/2022 23:02

Admin typing for the NHS 30 hours a week £17,000 - barely scrape by! But love my job!

Bemyclementine · 10/11/2022 23:06

16k for 18.5 hours.

HoobleDooble · 10/11/2022 23:22

I'm a bookkeeper, I'm on £14,500 for 20 hours. It's rubbish because, if I had the freedom to work full time, there are lots of jobs I could apply for which pay £30ish for 35 hours.

Satsumaonaplate · 10/11/2022 23:28

£23,000 for 16 hours, project controls

dreamingofstars · 10/11/2022 23:30

If I worked 16 hours my pay scale where I am working now would be around £17,500. I work as an Occupational therapist.

Echo40 · 11/11/2022 04:36

I work as activities/ events coordinator in residential home.
I earn living wage so £9.90 per hour national living wage is £9.50 currently.
I work 25 hours 3.5 days and pay 2 days childcare after school club for 1.
My net take home annually is ,£12,480 after tax/ ni pension contributions.
£240 per week.

The hours and location fits in well around kids had enough of working in retail.

autienotnaughty · 11/11/2022 06:19

10k library assistant

flowerycurtain · 11/11/2022 06:21

To be fair most farm secretary's are self employed so it's probably slightly less than that.

Lots of farmers who don't have the time/skills have someone come in once a week/month to do their books. They also often do payroll or grant applications. There's also big estates that have full time ones.
