Energy prediction changed

Anyone else had this? Shell Energy told me, by email, on the 4th, 6th and 13th Oct that my
forthcoming annual projection is 8069 kWh units of gas and 2686 kWh units of electricity, on the Energy Price Guarantee tariff. However, I got an email on the 19th Oct telling me that I am now predicted to use 12,000 kWh units of gas over the next 12 months, and 2900 units of electricity. This is a massive jump from the thrice-emailed prediction of 8069 kWh of gas and 2686 kWh of electricity. I am a household of one adult and a 10 year old. Last year's use is around the same unit use as the original predictions. Has Shell or any other fuel supplier done this to anyone else? And how is it resolved? I've lodged a complaint but I get standardised replies that are not tailored to my query. To be clear, this is not about the cost of the kWh units, or my geographic location (Liverpool), I understand all that and I understand the standing charge calculations and the kWh unit prices for each fuel type - this is about Shell massively increasing my predicted use only 6 days since their last email. Or to put it another way, why didn't they, on the on the 4th, 6th and 13th Oct, predict it to be 12,000 kWh units of gas and 2900 units of electricity! So infuriating!

I take it that this is all based on your meter readings? So Your predicted use will be determined by what you used last year so the easiest way to know if it is correct is to compare what they are saying you will use this year with what you actually used last year. So either check your paper bills if you have them on look at your online account for the previous usage.

The figures they are quoting are the average household consumption used when the mythical £2500 gets bandied about.

are they just telling you this so you can see how much above or below those averages you are - in your case below for both fuel types which from your description it what would be expected, or have they bizarrely set your predicted use as the average?
