How much do you have for yourself/ to save after all bills are paid for the month & what are your circumstances (single parent, shared bills..) ? Working on budgeting and wondered how much other people spend on outings, activities & other general things you may enjoy, especially with the costs of everything at the minute.

You can't ask other people without declaring your own?

After bills I have around 800, I'm terrible with saving lately and have nothing to show for it at the end of the month. That's why I asked the question

I'm new to budgeting. I'm a single mum with 2 dc, so everything I earn is mine to spend as I see fit. I put money into savings at the start of the month. But sometimes have to eat into that by the end of the month.
I have two categories that I see as discretionary. One is beauty and well-being, which includes gym, haircuts make up and clothes etc.

The other is socialising which includes eating and drinking out.

I probably have max £100-£200 I could spend in each of these categories if everything else was really tight and no hidden surprises in a month.

That is yet to happen though!

July-Aug - summer hols so increased spending
Sept - back to school so uniform and shoes
Oct - paying train fares for upcoming trip
Nov - birthdays
Dec - Christmas etc

So not yet got on top of it all/and or been real with myself about how little I do have to spend.

Probably around £100 pm.

Single, all DC now adults and flown the nest.
Earn around £36,000. I rent so no mortgage, and car is a lease.
I have around £1500 disposable each month which goes on eating out, hobbies, then the rest goes into savings for family birthdays or helping out DC.

Exactly my issue, I save at the beginning of the month but then eat into it
