Is it better to keep a credit balance in your electric account or your bank account?

I've built up quite a credit balance (because of preemptive panicking)

Should i withdraw it and keep it in my bank account? Or leave it where it is

Put it in an instant access savings account? That way you won’t be tempted to spend it and you’ll earn some interest.

When AVRO went bust last September it took me 6 months of pain to get my credit of £430 back! So I'm keeping in savings moving forward earmarked for gas and electric!

Who's it with? I'd definitely prefer it in my bank account in case they go bust

In your bank account. It's your money, not theirs.

Bank account

Christ. Good luck with getting it back, that's all I would say.

In your bank - obviously.

Find a savings account with a decent interest. Monzo has an easy access at 1.45% right now or fixed ones at 3.45%

I'm keeping mine with my energy firm for when I'm moved over to universal credit. That way it won't count as savings. I'm with octopus and think they're hopefully safe.

We're in the same position. I'm going to wait for our next bill to come in and then work out our estimated winter bill using last year's usage and this year's rates. Then I'll work out what our true credit probably is and ask to withdraw that and save it.
