Recommend me a heated throw please

I work from home FT and have recently converted the loft as my office space. There's heating up here but I can't justify heating the whole house during the day when it's just me up here (wouldn't have done even before the cost of energy went up).

I'm thinking a heated throw would be good, anyone recommend one? I don't mine spending on it if it is good, or would I be better off with an oil filled radiator and plugging that in?

I have a Dreamland - it's already in use sitting in front of TV.

I bought a mia&coco heated throw from Amazon. Heats up in seconds, I love it!
Room stays cool for my dog (he’s on meds can’t overheat).

I had an oil filled radiator in Uni - it was crap. Admittedly I’m going back years.

Heat the person not the room.

Suzi888 · 27/09/2022 11:29

I can confirm it’s 7p an hour on top setting. But doubt you’ll need it on an hour. I’ve just put it on hmmm about five mins ago and am toasty already. It’s washable and cream fleece one side, I went for the grey version.

I may get a faux fur for the sofa as they’re so handy.

I find Dreamland to be a good brand

Heat the person not the room.

I believe that's what the OP intends on doing

AriettyHomily · 27/09/2022 16:02

Yes definitely heat the person not the room. Thanks will go and investigate now.

I have this one, according to my smart meter it uses 3.5p to run an hour on the October rates on full setting.

I have had mine for nearly three years and can definitely recommend.

I have a dreamland one too. Cost about £100-£120 and have had it a couple of years and I love it.

MrsBartlet · 27/09/2022 21:12

I bought a couple of dreamland throws after seeing them recommend on MN. I have just started using them and they don't seem to heat evenly. I still feel warm so maybe that is ok. If it was just one like that I would assume it was faulty but they are both the same. Those of you with them - do yours heat evenly? Not meaning to hijack your thread OP but the info may be useful to you if you are looking to buy!

Recently I bought a heat pad to put on my chair whilst working from home. It was £30 which is much cheaper than the throws I found.

Only heats your bum but so far so good, can also use it for period/back pain.

MrsGamgee · 27/09/2022 23:03

I recently bought one of the Dreamland Alaskan fur heated throws. It was expensive at £110 from Lakeland but it has a 3 year guarantee and I got a good cashback deal via TopCashback.

It is one of my favourite things in this world, really feel the cold and I am lovely and toasty with it on (I have mine on the highest setting but don't leave it on for a full hour as I get to hot). I have a very comfy working from home set up curled up on my arm chair with my throw wrapped around my waist and legs 😁

BoopBoopBoDiddley · 27/09/2022 23:08

They are all pretty much the same although I did see a heated poncho which would be better to work under as you can move around

Dimsumbun · 01/10/2022 08:01

I’m thinking of getting one for my gets cold easily DH, can they ever be washed or just sponged down if tea for instance got spilt on them? or could they be put in a cover ?

Choconut · 01/10/2022 08:05

The Dreamland ones seem expensive to me, I got a cosi home one for £40 and it's been fine.

User0610134057 · 01/10/2022 08:13

I’ve got the dreamland ones that are around £60 on Amazon. Find them great - not enough and really toasty.

when our heating broke completely in February thought I did borrow one of the kids and have one under me and one on me 😆 but it was proper freezing and the house had got completely cold. You should have some residual heat from the house.

i really like the dreamland ones, can set them go off automatically after 1, 3 or 6 hours I think (or is it 9) and 6 temp settings but I tend to have a blast from it on the highest.

User0610134057 · 01/10/2022 08:14

Oh and they’re washable too

User0610134057 · 01/10/2022 08:14

*HOT enough! Not ‘not enough’!

fruitstick · 01/10/2022 08:14

I have the dreamland one. It's very toasty.
