I've just started a second job as we need the money. My first job is 8-4 my second job is 5.30 -8.30, both are every week day. Day1 of 2 jobs and I already ache so much. I also have 3 DC (10- 16) and a house to run. I just hope I can keep all my plates spinning, so to speak.

I love the way Truss says get a 2nd job. I'm 60 and already work full time in the NHS. I am knackered when I get home. I most certainly don't have the stamina for a 2nd job, I'm also waiting for a hip replacement so I'm in pain all the time too.

Not sure if its any consolation... the aching stops/gets easier but the tiredness does not Sad

@Bestcatmum sorry to hear about your hip replacement. I'm fortunate that I'm quite fit and well to take on a second job. My main job is also FT and I have a large team to manage.
It's unfortunate for me that my partner is like a teenager in terms of keeping the house/mess/consideration/ thoughtfulness. So I'm also the main house keeper at home too. I also manage all finances, school stuff and house maintenance.

Does your partner have a second job too then?

ineedhelptostop · 21/09/2022 08:39

@TibetanTerrah nope. He works FT but nothing else apart from that. He now has to cook every night though

Well he needs to get one, pick up more of the housework, or move out. There's no point you running yourself into the ground to enable him to sit on his arse.

ineedhelptostop · 21/09/2022 13:43

@TibetanTerrah if only. He doesn't hoover because apparently the hoover is the wrong kind/shape. Apparently he doesn't believe in making the beds or opening the curtains. I feel worked into the ground.

He doesn't believe in making beds or opening curtains? What have I just read? Surely this cannot be real. I would not accept this level of disrespect from my 14 year old boy. Why is this good enough for you?

Op what would you like your children to learn about relationships and how men should treat women? Get rid, you'd feel so much lighter and brighter, I bet some of those aches and pains disappear too.

Takenoprisoner · 21/09/2022 14:20

Also, does he think housework is some of sort of religion that you need to believe in, in order to do? That's the worst excuse ever for being a lazy sod who is actively making your life harder.

Make sure you've got all clothes clean for your DC and you for a few days, and down tools. You're more than doing your bit to bring in extra, working 10+ hours a day and travel between two jobs. He needs to support you and help out at home, otherwise I suggest he's the one who needs to work more hours - overnight if any, if not places are looking for xmas staff, pubs need bar staff, food deliveries etc.
