Heated airer's

I know that they can be good for lighter clothing but what about king size bedding and thick cotton towels? Considering purchasing one but if it's not going to dry the bedding or towels then there won't be any point imho.

Thanks in advance!

I never dried towels on mine, bedding was ok for single but the kingside stuff had to go over bannisters

I was thinking the same. From the reviews I've read, they seem to only dry efficiently where the rail is touching and require lots of shifting things around.

I've decided to put wall mounted airers in the airing cupboard and store towels and sheets in a separate cupboard instead.

I have Leifheit wall airers elsewhere in the house and find them really good. I think if you mounted them above radiators that could also be effective.

I hang towels on the airer and throw the super king fitted sheet over the top. Works for me. On the next load I do the same but with the super king duvet cover

Another banister & over upstairs doors vote!

I'd line dry towels in winter if the ground's dry though. And finish indoors. Not particularly because I need to save the cash. It just works for me! I like a hard towel!

I've used mine for quite a few years now. I find it great for heavier things like towels a jeans. Smaller bedding is hung up, larger items I drape over it I stead of using a cover. Same for towels, I keep one big bath towel to dry over the top which helps them all dry. I tend to put mine on during the night, or in winter during the day which helps heat the room.

I use duvet covers or sheets as a cover to contain the heat. A freshly washed duvet cover/sheet acts like the covers you can buy to trap the heat. Load the washing on the bars then throw the wet cover over too. Works brilliantly for us!

Meant to add we have a king size bed!

When I do bedding I put half over the bannister and then half over the drier (already full of clothes). Helps both dry quicker.

This is what I used to do. And turn cover over after a few hours if possible. When damp, I ironed (I know many people don't) and folded, and then put it back on the airer. Dried faster that way.

Brilliant idea thank you!

Same. And my jeans and towels dry far far faster on the airer.

bigbaggyblue · 18/09/2022 16:30

I put clothes on the airer with the dehumidifier in the middle and drape a fitted sheet over to help hold the warm air. Obviously plenty of ventilation for the dehumidifier but seems to dry things quicker for me

makinganavalon · 18/09/2022 16:40

I would hang towels on skirt/trouser hangers and hand them at the top of the drier and put cover on.
Works for Lakeland heated drier

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 18/09/2022 16:43

I have one and did use it for sheets when my tumble dryer wouldn't work. It was fine but I'd rather use my tumble dryer. Got a heat pump one now which is said to be more economical
