Is there such a thing as a prescription bank

Like a food bank but for prescription charges? I saw on another thread the someone couldn’t afford a prescription charge and that’s heartbreaking because I know they won’t be the first or the last to experience this. I get that there are prepayment and exemptions but this won’t cover those one offs will it?

I’d happy donate if there was such a scheme but a quick google didn’t bring up anything. Is it something the pharmacy themselves might cover or link up with a food bank does anyone know?

Avoid this if you can - if you're on regular meds and more than one a month, it's cheaper to buy a prepayment certificate. It's spread out as a monthly payment for a year over ten months. If you an afford it, it's a huge saving.

People on certain benefits get free prescriptions. Prescriptions are free for kids. Anyone who needs a lot of meds and isn’t eligible for free prescriptions can buy a pre pay certificate quarterly or annually

No there isn’t. Certain benefits, age groups and conditions are exempt, if you get 2 or more items per month regularly it is worth getting a pre payment certificate. I get 17 items per month and pay £10 something a month for mine. I know without the prepayment I couldn’t afford my medication.
