Eco water setting on combi boiler

I recently discovered the eco hot water setting on my combi boiler. Without this being on the boiler stores an amount of hot water ready for when you turn on the tap. Using the eco setting it takes longer for hot water to come from tap but is an overall saving. I started it half way through August and have made a saving. Hope this helps.

Thanks Wilma. I have that exact boiler, and have just followed the instructions. 👍🏼

If you get a power cut, our eco button needs resetting. Just something to be aware of and easily rectified.

I was going to start a thread asking about this.
Thank you @Wilma55

We have done the same. It does take a little while to get hot water but I’m hoping to save some £££ because our boiler no longer kicks in at random times during the day.

Thanks @Wilma55 are we talking much time for the hot water to come through?

Gaveitall · 03/09/2022 20:51

I live in the most expensive water authority area in the UK.

There is questionable savings to be made by me if I do as suggested. What I save doing this I will spend running the tap whilst I wait for the expensive hot water to come through.

As it is, I have to run nearly a full bathroom basin upstairs before my Worcester boiler gets hot water to me. Drives me nuts.

Boiler is only 4 years old.

@Gaveitall - Ours is like this too, it's not so much the boilers fault, more the length of pipework in and around the house to get there. It is very annoying and like you say a complete waste of water/gas

I don't find it's too long, I collect the water to use in the garden until its warmed up. Try it and see how it goes for you.

Not only does it take ages to warm up but it doesn’t seem to get as hot either 🤷‍♀️

Just come across this thread as I've just started a similar thread about how long it takes to get hot water from my boiler. I'm new to a combi as previously always had a back boiler(god how I miss it and regret having it replaced) I haven't washed my hands in hot water for 6 weeks since new boiler was put in as it takes sooo long to run hot I'm finding it incredibly frustrating and such a waste of water and all that water waste is not very environmently friendly I'm just glad I'm not on a water meter. I've never used the preheat water setting is it really so much more expensive?
