Drying clothes without using the dryer

Are you still going to use your dryer?

We live in quite an old property and I worry about causing damp/mould

Anyone on here with young children who don't use a dryer? How have you found it?

Before our daughter I never had a dryer, I just opened the windows every day and I was out five days a week at work.

Now between me and my partner we are home 5 days a week and will need to heat the property and I feel like it would be unfair to my daughter letting it get as cold as it did before we had her.

Really worrying, hoping for ideas, solutions and to hear what others are doing?

"So a dehumidifier would be the priority for me, we got one for £130 from screwfix. You wouldn’t want one on all day every day but they’re reasonable to run to dry clothes or dry out a bathroom after showers, at roughly 5p an hour. It definitely makes a room feel warmer and helps to cut the drying time of clothes. I have the drying pod from Lakeland which costs us 33.73p per hour ( current Eon tariff )."

I agree. I bought 12L dehumidifier for upstairs. We get a lot of condensation from the showers, sleeping etc. and using this device made enormous difference. I could never get rid of humidity by just airing the rooms (it's not going to help if humidity outside is 80%), I move my dehumidifier between bedroom and bathroom, works around 3-4 hours a day and it's much warmer and air isn't "heavy" IYKWIM. Normally, we would have heating on at least few hours a day now and currently we have one on for max 1-1.5 hours. The only downside is upfront payment that might not feel like saving, we paid for ours 180 quid.

@xogossipgirlxo I have to say, I’m a bit grossed out at how much water is in the atmosphere! We get a lot in the dehumidifier from showers and clothing drying. It’s shocking. But I haven’t put the heating on yet and my DDs room is no longer stone cold!

Using line outside become a weather watcher and plan in advance.

I manage 2 of my daughters laundry. One with a 4 yr old a the other with two teenagers that have incredible amounts of sports clothes around 14 hours of sports a week both in school and after school. It's a challenge especially the ironing!

You revived a 2 year old thread to tell us what a laundry ninja you are?

If I watched the weather, I'd need another room to keep all the pissy bedding in for 8 months of the year.
