Hi is anyone considering getting a pocket money debit card for their child and fancy trying Go Henry? We both get £20 credited once the card has been activated and the little 2 min quiz mission has been completed by your child on the App! It teaches them all about money management. My 7yr old loves it and has a card with a little Hamster on it! Halo
Follow my link :)
We're using GoHenry, a kids' prepaid debit card and financial education app. It lets kids learn about money with in-app lessons and real-world money experience. Sign up with this link and we can both get £20 pocket money – plus you get 1 month free (then £2.99 per month): https://www.gohenry.com/uk/referrals/?ght=RAF&utmcampaign=referrafrienddA&utmsource=activityMA#reffactgoWT22299Yk

Thank you! 🙏

Ooh was looking at getting one of these for my 11 year old, will have a look now x

Ariela · 30/05/2022 11:28

Just get an ordinary childs bank account at eg Lloyds - it's free (saving £2.99 a month) , you get a debit card and can download an app to their phone to manage their account, and this account does pay a little bit of interest.

Go Henry is expensive - about £36/year per child. I'd rather my child had that money to spend TBH, than pay it as an admin fee.
Have a look at HyperJar instead. Kids 6+ can have their own card and it's completely free.
Or, if your child is 11+, most major banks offer a card with their child accounts (and pay interest on any balance too!).

Bunce1 · 31/05/2022 08:11

Go Henry has fees. It’s rubbish.

starling is much better.

Moneygoals2022 · 06/06/2022 16:29

I have activated my sons card and he has done the first 6 money missions and will do the rest,so hopefully we will both get a bonus x

MintyIguana · 06/06/2022 16:31

We also use HyperJar for kids as there is no ongoing fee.

Would never use. Charges are high. Prepaid card or standard nationwide debit card are both free

As I said, my daughter has made £180 from this, simply by sharing her referral link on Facebook once a week

There's better deals if all people are wanting is a basic kids account without wanting to recruit people to make a profit . If the fees are £36 a year then the £20 just gets given back to Go Henry plus £16 of the persons own money. You've posted on the credit crunch section so pointing out it could actually end up costing money isn't a bad thing.

Its good that you've made a profit from your Facebook and if others are happy to promote to their friends and family on Facebook and social media weekly then that's great, I hope you make a good amount from this thread and that your dd enjoyed her barbie play set, many won't be signing up with that intention and don't allow their children on social media to refer people themselves so there's no harm pointing out to those that it might not be the best deal.

SlatsandFlaps · 13/06/2022 08:27

@ChronicallyOnline How dare you?! Of course I don't allow my child onto social media! I do the referring! What a passive aggressive post.... HmmBiscuit

I think you've read my post in a tone I didn't intend, not sure why you've got so angry at me.

I did not say anywhere that you allow your child on social media, You replied to a few people pointing out Go Henry's fees not being great telling them you've made £180 in referring in on social media, which is great for people who are looking to make a bit of money, but some will only want the bank account and not looking for themselves or their children, (some of who will be teens with social media as Go Henry covers quite an age range ) to be posting weekly referrals. I was talking about those peoples children, not yours.

I even said it's good that you've made that money, I said I hoped you make more from the thread for your daughter, I also said it's great thing for others if they're wanting to make a bit of extra income and even said I hope your daughter enjoys her Barbie play set. I was being kind and genuinely do hope you make more for your daughter. I'm sorry I made you angry, that wasn't my intention.

Catslovepies · 13/06/2022 14:55

If it relies on recruiting people to make money it's basically a pyramid scheme for kids. I definitely recommend people do not sign up to this - much better ways for children to get their own accounts as previous posters have stated.

I have been really impressed with gohenry. The money learning tools and knowledge banks are great for my 11 year old and I like the way they talk about future debt and saving towards what you want. The referral bonus was great but I have been impressed by the overall package. Thanks again for the link x
