BG or Homeserve for homecare cover?

Hi, we're currently with British Gas for both our home and rental (landlord) property on their Homecare 4 for both. They've just sent us our renewal prices and they are shocking. The rental flat's not too bad but our own homecare cover is going up to £52 a month (it was £44), which is ridiculous. I normally phone them and haggle but have seen Homeserve pop up as an ad. Like for like (more or less) they're about half the price BG are quoting (although after the first year it doubles), but I wondered if anyone had any experience using them? I know cheaper isn't always better!

Do you mean emergency home care which covers things like leaking pipes, electricity, door locks etc.

We have this but it is part of our home insurance policy, and is free.

I'm with BG at the moment and last time they increased my prices for homecare I phoned them and said I could get a better deal with Homeserve, they reduced them over the phone closer to what I was previously paying. I've been with both companies in the past and had to claim through both, found no differences really.
