Most efficient way to dry washing

I don't have a tumble dryer, can't line dry or part dry when it's wet, so what's the best way to do it?

Currently I wash, then do an extra spin cycle (is this worth it?), then put on maidens around radiators and have heating on for a few hours.

I'm trying to use the heating less so really only turning it on now because of the washing. Is there a better way? Heated airer, dehumidifier?

I try and use lighter towels as they dry much quicker inside

We always do an extra spin, sometimes two spins. It makes a huge difference.

Extra spin cycle didn't seem to make much difference for me but this probably depends on your machine. Mine is a 1600 spin and spins for ages. I put it on a 1400 if I'm using the tumble dryer and it's noticeably wetter so maybe if you have a 1400 the extra cycle is worth it.

Look up a heater drier and a dehumidifier on a website. Look up their energy use - assume you're going to run them at their max energy consumption (that's KWh) and then multiply by what you pay for a KW when you intend to run it. That's the cost (per hour).

How long you'd need to run either to dry your clothes - that's the question the MN collective can give you ideas around.

For a ceiling airer Google 'sheila maid', they Come in up to 8ft lengths from memory.

I use a second spin cycle, put clothes in dryer for 10 mins take them out while hot, pull straight/flatten and then out on clothes horse usually dry same day and I very very rarely iron anything - usually just cuffs and collars if I do.
