Too old for LISA!

After reading Martin Lewis recently (and some threads here) I attempted to open a LISA today. Hadn't realised that you had to be below 40! Have missed out by a year. Can anyone recommend an equivalent? I'm determined to sort out my finances in the next year.

What do you want to save for? You can only use a LISA for a first time home purchase or a pension I think (I used mine to effectively make pension contributions whilst I was not employed. If you’re saving for retirement then a standard pension would work in roughly the same way. If you’re saving for a first home then I don’t know much about that, but is there still a Help to Buy ISA - I think that was similar to a LISA.

Ah I see, thank you! I have a Help to Buy account and ML was recommending doing both the HTB and a LISA, and then deciding which one to use for a house purchase depending on how quickly one wanted to move. As I'm aged out of the LISA a standard pension is probably my best bet.
