Hi
Does anyone know when tax credits are moving over to universal credit?

Everyone is being moved over o RR the next few years. I suspect it will take longer than they expected to get everyone on due to the pandemic

I just wondered if anyone knew a definite date for particular areas but perhaps not
I just can't stand the waiting

I read that the aim is to get everyone moved over by 2024 and I'm crossing my fingers it's not before.

Most people are worrying. If it helps, I can give a little info in that my DD had to claim while working in retail as her wage was so low and she lives independently. They were decent with her but she was working full time.

There is a group on Facebook called universal credit essentials. I advise you join that as it's run by very knowledgeable admin.

Please try not to waste your life worrying. This year has shown us that we worry about things and something else comes along and fucks us.

I'm in the same boat btw.

Many people are better off on UC. I think you'd be surprised at what some people get. If you have savings currently which would be above the amount allowed on UC, then I think there is some transitional protection for at least 12 months. The managed migration programme I think has largely ground to a halt due to so many people currently having to make Uc claims due to covid related redundancy or furlough. It is not something I would be worrying about right now as it could be years before you are moved.
The Uc system at the moment is just about coping without millions more being moved from tax credits.
I will say though that with so many more people having to open new Uc claims right now, I'm glad the Uc system is in place as claiming for all benefits together is so much simpler a process. People moaned about UC being introduced but in my opinion it has really simplified things. I'm not denying there are problems with it, particularly the five week wait etc, but once up and running it is far far simpler than tax credits and is based on real time earnings so overpayments are rare.
