Does the date matter?

Hi

I plan to switch over to UC on the 27th October. Can anybody tell me is this a bad date? Does it make a difference what date in the month you apply for UC.

It is important to keep the date you apply away from your payday if you have wages coming in. The reason for this is that if for example your employer pays you early for Christmas or a bank holiday then you could potentially end up with 2 pay days reported in the same UC assessment period meaning it would wipe out any UC payment that month.

Thanks for the reply. I picked the 27th as I thought it would be a good idea so I could plan to save Blush. Would the 19th be better?

What day of the month are you paid?

Also will I get my childcare costs back dated while I’m waiting 5 weeks for my application to be processed once it’s been accepted?.

I’ve doubled checked and I think I will apply on the 12th of this month. My child care costs would be £650 for 4 weeks.

I get my salary from work on the 27th of every month.
