Universal credit/ ESA help

I'm a single mother with a one year old boy and living with my parents but unfortunately due to health reasons and because my son isn't of age to attend nursery I am out of work.
At the moment I am in receipt of Income related ESA, personal independence payment both higher rate payments.

I am looking to move out in the next 2 weeks, however I'm worried and need some advice from anyone that has been in the same situation as me.
If I call up esa and tell them that I need to change my address because I'm no longer living with my parents will they put me into the severe disability category (I am entitled to be in that group if I wasn't currently living with my parents)
Or will they tell me I have to move onto universal credit?
I don't want to be worse off than I already am because it's hard enough to live as it is.
I don't want any nasty comments or judging!! I do not want to be claiming benefits and I do want to be in work but for several severe reasons I literally cannot work.
Please, only comment if you have advice.
I'm going to call up my local council and ask for advice, however they are closed today.

Hi - I’m a housing benefit assessor so I’ve seen and advised on this situation before.

When you change your address you need to specifically tell them you’re living with no other adults and you want the SDP component added to your claim.

This change is not a trigger for Universal Credit.

Thank you :) Is this still not a trigger if I'm moving to a different area that has a different local council ?

@Hwory Thank you 😊 Is this still not a trigger if I'm moving to a different area that has a different local council ?

What was the outcome of this ? Did you manage to get the sdp added and therefore able to claim housing benefit ?

@Babyroobs
I stayed in the same area with the same council called up esa and told them my new address and that I would like to add sdp and they did it over the phone and 2 weeks later I was accepted for the sdp

I’m not sure if it’s the same if you move to an area with a different council, I’ve read somewhere that moving to a different area is a UC trigger
