You know that when your child is 5 you have to work 25 hours?
But I've heard if you earn over min wage they let you keep your hours as they are?
I work only slightly under that but I earn more than min wage - not that much more. And bonus on top.

Would they definitely let me keep my hours as they are? Or does anyone know how much you have to earn over min wage in order to do this?

25 x '£minimum wage after tax' is the financial amount you're weekly earnings would need to add up to

ohwhattodowithmylife · 09/10/2019 16:01

I only work 7.5 hours per week but earn over the threshold so they haven't said I need to work more hours. I'm not quite sure what the threshold is but I earn £490 per month

I definitely get living wage, possibly a bit over I'm not sure. I get commission on top although of course that changes every month. So I guess I would earn enough I think?

How much is 25 times minimum wage after tax

Depends on your age op.

marblesgoing · 13/10/2019 21:42

Depends on your age

25 x minimum wage for over 25s works out at £205.25 per week ,which is &889 per calendar month.

Annually it's just below £11000 so under the tax threshold

Ok thank you so much

I earn over that including my bonus. Excluding bonus I don't
So would this be ok for them to be ok with me working the same hours still do you think?

I'm guessing they take bonus into account?

They will take all earnings into account plus other forms of income (not child maintenance). So, yes, your bonus will affect your monthly UC amount. For instance, if you get your bonus in the December assessment period, it will lower your UC amount for that period.
It's 25 hours x NMW=earned income threshold.
(Not NMW after tax.)
When applying for UC, you have to calculate your yearly earnings (gross) including bonus.

Ok so I should be ok then
