Costco

Is it worth a visit? Years ago (about 9) I went but just ended up buying things I wouldn't usually buy e.g. huge tubs of sweets.

If I do go, what sort of things are good value for money?

I like the rotisserie chicken & the fresh tomato sauce for pasta. The sausages are great too.

Thank you all, I'm going to stay away. Budget is a big thing at the moment but I know I'd be tempted. Many of the things people said were good (cakes, ready meals etc) we don't really buy anyway.

I don’t think Costco sell ready meals .

Usually we buy stamps and batteries. The savings on both of these add up to the cost of a membership. We share our membership with my sister and her DH so it only costs about £15 a year.

Every month or so we buy meat, t-rolls and ginger (irn-bru and Pepsi) both much cheaper than in asdsa or tescos.

They sell fresh ready meals, and they are excellent. Also various frozen noodle type things.

Course, the only REAL reason to go to Costco is to get your hands on the free food samples. Grin

I don't think Costco is necessarily cheaper but for us bulk buying saved us money as it reduces top up shopping.
The stuff we buy is good quality, the dishwasher tablets are way better than the ones we used to get from Aldi.
Same with the bin bags plus they last for ages we buy a roll once a year, I had to buy Aldi and Morrison's ones over Christmas and they were rubbish in comparison.
We buy a lot of branded stuff anyway due to a mixture of preference and allergies, it does tend to work out cheaper for things like teabags, cereal, etc or at least as good as a supermarket offer.
Then there's the other stuff books, toys, clothes vacuum cleaners, travel mugs, and the pizza from the cafe!

The bin bags are great quality, I really resent buying them from anywhere else now!

I have a 3 year old fussy eater... we go to Costco at the weekends sometimes just to introduce her to new foods via the free samples and widen her food repertoire! We’ve found loads of things she likes that we wouldn’t otherwise have thought of giving her.

Yeah, a trip to Costco is also a like a taster menu for lunch, 17 courses of cheese/choc/whatever!

The black bin bags are a thing of beauty and strength but it does require the funds to bulk-buy upfront. We also get the boring stuff like dishwasher/laundry stuff there.

I am dying to know what the Great Oreo incident was ....
