Would anyone like to join me? I aim to look ahead to potential spends (above planned for bills/petrol etc) and then cap a maximum 'extra'. So this would include things like trying to get bargain present or, if we are doing something that costs money at the weekend, trying to knock a tenner off the food shop to compensate, selling old clothes etc. Any extra I manage to save will be put in a separate account.

If you'd like to join in, feel free and we can encourage each other and ensure we're accountable for all those little extras.

Hopping back on if I may.
£40 at Sainsburies, comprising last main shop before Christmas and last Christmas presents. I don’t think I need a big supermarket until after Christmas as all I will need are milk, bread, salad etc. Freezer and cupboards full, I batch cooked last week lots of main dishes in individual foil trays so we will eat up these over the next two weeks. Am off for the next two days and will bake scones, cookies etc.
We don’t go mad for chocolates, biscuits, Pringles etc but what I have bought has all been on offer and squirrelled away, to take to family where we are spending Christmas.
I will wrap all the presents tomorow. I have made a rule that I am not allowed to twitch re presents once they are all wrapped so I must get it done.

Missphonic- well done for making money/ meal planning and lovely tree.

Duchess: all the baking sounds heavenly. I know what you mean about not twitching, I have stopped looking at the bargain thread on here to avoid temptation. I have a handful of gifts left to purchase which I'm hoping to pick up tomorrow.

I'll not bore you with one and out of each day as a bit behind but been pretty pleased with efforts, not perfect, but certainly better.

I'm actually looking forward to the New Year as a fresh slate.

I'd like to join please!

Having paid off a shedload of debt and thought things were going ok, DP has found out that our available money will be severely reduced in the next year or two - his VAT bill will be going up each year and the amount coming in won't be, so we will have to budget accordingly Sad

I am ok with this, having budgeted/ got used to a frugal lifestyle to pay off the debt a previous partner left me with, but he's always been used to having £££ to spend!

Pre-Christmas shop has been done although we'll probably pop into Asda or similar Christmas Eve to get some bread/ milk etc and see if we can get any bargains. We have an old freezer I'm thinking of using again too (currently switched off) as our current one is full to capacity, meaning no opportunity for batch cooking.

I do try to meal plan but just get bored, TBH. Plus DP is such a faffer to cook for, it's hard to know what he'll eat at any given time. But I think these things must be done.....!

Does anyone have a good website they could point me towards for making snacks to take out and about with us? We have two toddlers and whilst I do take bits with us, it would be handy to bake biscuits/ flapjacks/ cereal bars to add to the snack bag. Healthy recipes very welcome as I am also making an effort to lose 2 stone next year and get back to a pre-DC weight!

Loving this thread thanks for the ideas and I’d like to join in if I may!
Payday is tomorrow so a good one to start on. We’re desperately in need of saving but have got used to frittering it slightly more as our income has increased.
How did you work out the amount of disposable that you’ve set for each week?
