Noticed in a Good Housekeeping mag (does that show my age!) that it said everyone uses cashback sites. I thought - really? I don't do you? Is it all good and am I missing out big time? Best ones?

I’d not heard of kidstart but have just signed up as quidco don’t often do amazon and there’s a few bits we buy regularly.

Thanks for the tip x

OlennasWimple · 09/02/2018 15:38

I use Quidco for UK purchases and EBates for US purchases.

I don't buy things that I wouldn't do normally, but even doing things like Expedia holiday and travel bookings can earn a decent amount over a year - lots of £2.50s here and there soon add up, especially when there are bonus events and you get £10 or so for buying something you already needed

OlennasWimple · 09/02/2018 15:40

And if my purchase is only going to generate pennies with Quidco (Amazon purchases, for example, can be very small %ages), I use Easyfundraising to raise money for charity instead like another pp upthread

GetsPostByOwl · 09/02/2018 15:41

I use kidstart and make sure every online purchase is done through that. I don't spend vast amounts online but over the years it has added up. I've had a couple of hundred pounds back.

gruntley123 · 13/02/2018 13:31

I use Quidco and the only supplier I have ever had a problem with over the years, is M&S and their insurance product.

Quidco gave me a credit in the end when M&S wouldn't budge, despite screen shot evidence.

Having had a couple of v bad customer service experiences when buying furniture from M&S it didn't entirely surprise me, although I still have a vestige of sadness at what has happened to what used to be a good retailer.

DeleteOrDecay · 13/02/2018 13:40

I've been using quidco since around 2014 and have earnt around £250 in that time. I usually only get pennies from transactions with the occasional bigger cash back offer, but it all adds up. Sometimes that extra £10 I have built up over a few months comes in handy. I noticed recently that you can convert your cash into vouchers for various stores now too.

All my transactions have been successful except for a £30 offer from gocompare and I missed the deadline to contest the decision which was slightly annoying as I should have got that money.

Would recommend it. You probably won't earn loads unless you spend loads but you can build up a nice little stash over time.

Whitney168 · 13/02/2018 13:43

Only work if you are a huge spender on all the stuff I don't buy - clothes, magazines, cinema tickets, spa breaks etc.

I assume most people have some sort of insurances - house, car, pet? This is definitely the biggest win on cashback sites.

I have used topcashback for years and I think my balance claimed is about £1,400. A lot of this is annual renewals of insurances for both of us, also ensuring that we get optimum price on renewals rather than just rolling on. (For interest, I often check it on direct through insurer's site too and have never found a difference in cost to the topcashback click-through.)

Money for nothing!

Whitney168 · 13/02/2018 13:48

Oooh I lied ... £1500!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 19/02/2018 14:17

I use Quidco and Topcashback. I'm not a huge spender either but always check it when making a large purchase or for renewals of Insurance, travel insurance, holidays or swapping bank accounts etc.

DeleteOrDecay · 19/02/2018 18:37

I get all my cats food, litter etc from Zooplus. Once a month usually at around 2/3% on quidco so not much but it really adds up over time.

MrsHarveySpecterV · 22/02/2018 19:46

I have signed up for the sites today after reading this thread, can anyone tell me if it's better to sign up to the premium memberships or just stick with the classic?

PaulCalf · 22/02/2018 19:50

We use quidco. A lot of purchases don't seem to track though, so I definitely wouldn't make any decisions based on the cashback. Just view it as a bonus.

getrunningirl · 22/02/2018 20:22

That's useful to hear thanks

Earned £90 so far. Even though I am waiting for £65 to still clear.

Ilovecamping · 24/03/2018 09:19

I couldn't get to grips with Quidco so use Topcashback, have used for car and home insurance, 2 different ferry crossings, bought gift card for £30 got £2 cashback, even have my debit card linked to Halfords so can get cashback when use the shop.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 24/03/2018 09:24

I use Quidco. Did our house insurance through them last month and got £70 cash back , to be paid in May. I’ve had a few hundred so far. It’s great if you only use it for things you were going to buy anyway.

Bossyboots59 · 01/04/2018 20:36

Another tip: if you or your OH work for the Civil Service, it’s worth joining the Civil Service Social Club. You can then pre-load gift cards for high street stores -for example, I load a Sainsburys card regularly and get a 5% cash back that I can load onto another card (M&S in my case, for odd treats). When we want to buy a household appliance etc from Argos, I preload the Argos card and get 8% cashback - and 8% off an iPad is quite substantial! You do end up with a wallet full of gift cards, though.

Waitinforaflamin · 01/04/2018 20:42

Been using Quidco for about 6 years and have had about £1500 back. I use it for most big purchases and shop around. The ££ comes from insurance, mobiles and other bigger bills that I swap every few years to get a better deal.

Sierra259 · 02/04/2018 08:12

I use Kidstart and have made nearly £300 back. Little bits add up over time, but if you buy bigger items like appliances/flights you can get quite a big chunk. Definitely worth doing as I would have spent the money anyway!

I use quidco and it really adds up. I always check it if I’m switching utility company, broadband and tv suppliers.

I don’t always remember to check every purchase but I’m going to ge back into the habit after reading this thread.

Thighofrelief · 28/09/2018 21:55

which cashback site should you use if you order a lot from amazon?

JasJ · 01/10/2018 10:22

Quidco seems to work well for me, been using it for a couple of years. Cashback tracking can be a little off though, I've had to chase a few up before. I've had cashback refused before because I went to a retailer website by previously clicking 'Ad' on Google, before going straight over from Quidco.
