This is a friendly group where we chat all things money related and all things everything else related. Everyone welcome so settle in and let’s make 2018 the year we save money!

Well that was a day. The lump is a cyst.

Star anise is for putting in with butter glazed carrots, rich spicy stews, crumble, roast pork, curry, lemon cordial. I cannot fathom a dusty jar.... I buy in bulk at the international supermarket.I think DD has got a place at her favourite college. They rang this morning to check our address because the letter they had sent was returned. I cheekily asked if they had given her a place as it was her first choice and the lad did his best to sound noncommittal but you could hear the smile in his voice. We haven't said anything to her just in case I am wrong.

WreckTangled · 09/01/2018 18:35

Oh unescorted phew! So relieved for you Thanks

Ds is sad because he says he can't remember his phonics at school 😭 why do they have to put so much pressure on them?!

Unescorted · 09/01/2018 18:36

girlie try breaking the journey. You might be able to get a cheap ticket to the outskirts and then catch the light rail or tube for the rest of the way.

Unescorted · 09/01/2018 18:39

Ta wreck it is I just want to curl up and snooze. Unfortunately I am on making pizza duty. My boss was so lovely - I had called into a meeting and after he called to say how much it was appreciated that I had kept going at work. It never occurred to me to act differently.

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 09/01/2018 18:47

NSD should be same tomorrow.

AuditAngel · 09/01/2018 19:08

Will catch up after posting spends.

Saturday £4 parking for panto, £50 new school shoes for DD1 (who destroyed the last pair in one term) £20 in Smiggle including £10 on a gift for DD2 to take to a party next month. £20 for tea in the pub for 3 of us, £23 in M&S mainly on lunch stuff, but also a pack of crop tops for DD1 who couldn't find a suitably coloured one. £10 on 2 hot chocolates for the girls and a coffee for me.

Sunday £4 parking to watch panto, £5 for an ice cream for DD2, £5 on bits of tat at the panto (they were half price as it was the last day) but the cousin who went with us paid. She also bought drinks and popcorn.

Monday NSD, today I need to do a food shop for collection tomorrow.

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 09/01/2018 19:13

NSD today.
Dh is cooking Grin

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 09/01/2018 19:15

Wow Cag that crazy !
Can you set yourself a budget of say £10 a week and stash the rest ?
Do bus passes make it cheaper ?
They do weekly ones here -around £13 for an adult and you can go on as many trips as you like and leave your purse at home Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/01/2018 19:21

Your on a roll Polly! How are you finding frugality?.

I have my heated throw on. Every house should have one.

WreckTangled · 09/01/2018 19:27

Fluffy how much was it?

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/01/2018 19:32

What a fuck about Facebook selling is at times.

If the sleep trainer helps then it's money well spent. Being frugal is extra hard when your are tired.

I am reading but not posting as much. All fine but trying to figure how to to increase my protein without loads of meat or powder

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/01/2018 19:35

£120 but I wanted the faux fur one to look nice on the sofa. It was my Christmas present. The furs not worth the money if I'm honest. Looks nice though.

You can get fleece ones for £30ish on Amazon. Sometimes Aldi have them in the sale.

MeadowHay · 09/01/2018 19:36

Very tired from just two afternoons of work, it's definitely making the nausea a bit worse but it's still manageable. Was sick on the walk there though and then had a couple of bouts of retching on the walk back but it's not as bad when I'm there sitting at my desk. Eating ginger biscuits to keep me going this afternoon. Still, it's good to be out and talking to people and earning money. And I'm sleeping better already from being so tired!

Cag We are going to leave it to be a surprise about the sex - so anything gender neutral ish would be well received Smile. Thanks!

Fluffy I'd love a heated throw, I'm always freezing! DH is wearing a t-shirt and we have the heating on, I'm sitting here with my PJs, dressing gown, and blanket over me and I'm still freezing!

Wreck Hope DS is ok, poor little thing Sad.

Unescorted Hope you're ok.

Ngl I've never even heard of star anise before this thread Blush !

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/01/2018 19:38

That's good news about the lump that isn't

SnugglySnerd · 09/01/2018 19:46

That's good news Unescorted.

Christmas I actually expected a sleep consultant to cost a lot more than that. Hopefully it's a good investment.

I am currently reading the new HFW book in bed! I've roasted some veg to make soup tomorrow. No sweet potatoes but I might add star anise anyway!

Wolfcub · 09/01/2018 20:00

Great news Unescorted.

Star anise is great in cranberry sauce too.

£5 lunch. Can’t claim this back as it was the work canteen and work consider that to be subsidised

Dinner £20 but can claim 15 of that back (glass of wine not covered)

needastrongone · 09/01/2018 20:03

Life see below, if the fucker posts from the iPad.

That's such brilliant news about the lump that's not a lump unescorted, you might find you are tired for a few days with relief. I would have worked too.

Mushroom bourguignon, celeriac mash, purple sprouting broccoli - all veg delivered from the market.

Potterurotter · 09/01/2018 20:10

@girliefriendlikesflowers try looking at West Midlands railway usually do a cheap train to/from Birmingham to Watford/Euston for around 6 quid split your journey into parts with several singles and it’s cheaper

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/01/2018 20:12

Well done Unescorted. My colleagues was a cyst too.

Taytocrisps · 09/01/2018 20:20

NSD Halo

Unescorted that's a huge relief!

Meadow great to hear from you and to hear that the nausea has improved to the extent that you can go back to work.

I got DD to cook dinner with me earlier (spag bol). She wasn't too enthusiastic to start off with there was a bit of attitude but she enjoyed it despite herself and was proud of the end product. I want to get her cooking more this year.

I recorded 'Getaways' last night (travel programme) and we pulled the curtains on the dreary January day and watched it and fantasized about holidaying in Nice Smile.

Cagliostro · 09/01/2018 20:22

What a relief unescorted :)

Spends
£89.11 Tesco delivery
£9 bus

Yup pink we usually have electronic bus passes but we didn’t renew them when they expired around the time when Cagletini arrived, as we didn’t know how I’d manage getting about, and then have just been using cash since then. I actually dug out the Caglets’ passes this morning though so will do theirs next time I’m in town.

I actually can get a free disabled bus pass myself if I send off the forms. That’s a combination of my usual disorganisation (I have autism and the resulting lack of executive function means I really struggle with anything like that, but I’m gradually improving) and, if I’m honest, pride. It’s been quite a struggle accepting the illnesses I have. Silly I know.

On a more positive note though I didn’t spend anything on the way back from tap. Just having a freezer dinner, even the veg is frozen! I think long term Tuesday dinner will be a microwave job so something I’ve batch cooked.

£30 for all of us to go to Winchester science centre a week Sunday. Will be fun. It's been a very spendy day Blush and my idiot dh got bread and milk despite me saying I would get some so now we have loads. I win though because I got crumpets and fruit too.

needastrongone · 09/01/2018 20:25

cag can I just say how well you are doing and how much you've got yourself organised. All this with Cagletini. And not wanting to sound patronising. Bloody well done you!

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/01/2018 20:28

need thanks
