Cheap freezer food

My freezer has been out of action for a month and somehow we've eventually got it back in working order ourselves! However, money is really tight at the moment and I've only got around £30, but really want to get the freezer stocked back up as some things I buy are cheaper frozen than from the fridge.

Can anyone give me any suggestions for cheap ways of filling up the freezer - our diet tends to be veggie, fish and chicken. Ideally I just want to get the food from Tesco or Lidl to save petrol and time costs as we're not in a town.

You could always fill it up with a couple of loaves of bread until you have a bit more money. I actually like Tescos value icecream which is under £1. Also, I buy Tescos value white fish - it's easy to add a cheese to, make a sort of Mediterranean casserole with tomatoes, onion and peppers if you have them, also sometimes I just cook it with a little onion and cheese on top. Also, I think they had chicken in breadcrumbs (including a choice of southern friend) - 3 packs £5, also maybe something similar on their fish in breadcrumbs

How about buying reduced price (near use-by date) food and freezing it? You can sometimes find bargains.

Also, making large quantities of home-made soup and freezing it in portions.

Good luck.

Just to let you know it cost £29.12 in the end (I have a smaller under worktop freezer with three drawers). I did get the value white fish fillets, some frozen veg, loaf of bread, also packs of reduced pitta breads and scones, value icecream and admittedly quite a lot of things with breadcrumbs that were on offer, and quite four packs of quorn on offer.

It's so much easier having the freezer back in use, I've got a back up plan if I don't feel like cooking from scratch and if I am cooking from scratch there's a few things like the white fish, quorn and veggies that can be added to something without having to go out every 2/3 days.
