Making money

Hello all!

How is everyone getting on with the summer hols Confused

So I currently work in Education (admin) I work 25 hours, do the morning drop off and afternoon pick up and I only work term time. It is a fantastic job, money is ok but not enough to live off. My husband is the primary earner.

I want to start earning/making money so that we can save up for a deposit and get a mortgage. At the moment all our money goes on rent, bills, kids. At the end of the month there is nothing to put aside for savings Blush

So what I would love to talk about, hear about is any ideas on how to make some extra income?

Obviously, first idea is to get a full-time job/proper career but this is just not feasible as child care is just too expensive and we have no family support for longterm reliable childcare.

What else can I do? Love to hear from any parents who have any money earning/making ideas SmileGrin

I was in the same job and you're right, lovely job, terrible pay! I have two young children (6&2) but when I was offered a full time position in the private sector I had to take it and pay out for childcare. It now costs more than my mortgage but it isn't forever and I when my youngest is in school next year, I will start to see the benefits

Will the new 30 hours of free childcare rules help you OP?

How old are your DCs?

I am looking for a new job & so many people have said "ooo - why don't you work in a school?" Well firstly the jobs are highly sought after and secondly the pay is quite a bit lower than for comparable jobs in the private sector!

My kids are in school 8years and 5 years. Not sure if we are eligible for any free childcare as my husbands salary is on the higher end.

School jobs are brilliant as they provide great hours and working term time is a bonus. Also where I am at there is the possibility for career progression but thats once the kids are in secondary school and once i can go full time.

My jobs is paid ok for the hours I do. I take how £940 but that just pays for the bills and extras that the kids need - swimming, football, tennis.

I am looking for something i could do at home, in the afternoons and evenings like typing ect but its hard to find genuine jobs

I will definitely give matched betting a go. Heard lots about this.

I don't want to do weekend work - before i got this school job i was working weekends and to be honest it was tough being away from the family and missing out on family days out (which are much needed !!) I don't mind having the occasional weekend work or working a few hours from home in the weekend.
