although my freeze is full to the rafters.
my ds works part time at an Indian restaurant and they send him home with all manner of curries with rice and breads.
we end up chucking after we have had a Go at them.
should we freeze say the chicken tikka masala
would you?
is it safe?

I'd chuck the rice, it's lethal.

If you put the containers on metal eg draining board it will cool quickly and you can freeze.

Just be super vigilant about reheating swiftly & thoroughly.

I would freeze everything apart from rice. Luck you, I would love Indian food every night!

People always go on about the rice but I have reheated takeaway rice nearly every week for about 20 years and never had an issue.

I have also frozen it too if there has been too much to eat when fresh.

Yes freeze it all!

Agree Barbara I have re-heated rice all my life and never had a problem touch wood!

Chapattis freeze really well and you can use them just like tortilla wraps

torthecatlady · 13/03/2016 01:28

I freeze it all! Including rice and breads! No problems here Smile

puthyjip43 · 13/03/2016 02:10

Freeze all of it - I reheat rice all the time never had a problem? Naan breads can be frozen and reused as pizza bases or bruschetta bases too.
I'd make up a batch of frozen lunches with curries and rice to take to work
Lucky you!!

It's not the freezing of the rice, it's how quickly it is cooled from hot after first cooking. I've had food poisoning from Chinese rice before and haven't touched take away rice since. Don't forget, it's cooked before you order it and reheated when you order it.

I've had success with rice but not with breads.

I've taken the food safe course so i'm aware of the possibilities but I've yet to experience a problem. I would keep some of the rice, depending on space and reheat into a pilaf or pudding which cooks long and slow.
I don't think i'd bother with the breads.
