Well done Lollipop!

I've not posted for a few days, must try harder to keep up. Still seem to be spending a small fortune on food. Going to try and do a better meal plan and do an online shop tonight, hopefully cut down on top up shops next week.

One bit of positive news is that after a long debate with Scottish power about the fact they thought we were £500 in debt they have "recalculated" our account and we are now £350 in credit! That's more like it! Hopefully we will get that back when we move out.

ItalianWiking84 · 06/01/2016 12:12

Dh is at an interview today... So exciting... Only been unemployed for 2 weeks so was not expecting an interview so fast for him

ItalianWiking84 · 06/01/2016 12:18

Spent 10£ On a clothes set today and will need to buy some soup going home since our food plan is out of the way due to dh being to interview

Pointlessfan · 06/01/2016 12:32

Well done lollipop and good luck Italian's DH.
I got a mascara this morning with Boots points and bought DD some clothes using money that MIL gave me to spend on her so I think that still counts as an NSD, right? Need bin bags though so will nip to sho after DD's nap.

LollipopViolet · 06/01/2016 12:57

I didn't need to go to town after finding out about my job, so I will successfully complete an NSD :)

I'll also be getting a final payment of JSA into my account, and got my usual two week's worth today. My hope is, I can spend a minimal amount this month and keep that money as savings (I had it paid into a savings account that I can access at any time). Got bills coming out before the end though, phone and CC, so might have to dip into it a bit. Wages will then go in my normal account and I'll put some away each month.

Lovetoknit · 06/01/2016 13:08

Welcome lollipop and well done Flowers
Good luck Italian's DH
Went to pick up car yesterday from the garage and only got to petrol station before we had to take it back, hopefully it will be finished today
Went shopping with dh at Truro:
£12 at Hobbycraft, £70 at Dunelm Mill after we found the perfect rug for the dining room, £11 on chicken food and £25 at Asda which included 5 loaves of Polish bread for 10p each which I put straight in the freezer

Colin the builder is back and the small job of putting in new loo, lino and building an airing cupboard is lot bigger now since he had to take down the ceiling as well Sad

LollipopViolet · 06/01/2016 13:49

Yay - just saved another £40 by cancelling my Xbox Live subscription. I'm not going to doing a huge amount of gaming when work starts, with having to do college stuff too, so I don't need it right now. Managed to cancel before it auto-renewed at the end of the month.

This saving money business is easy, when you're strict with yourself.

Girlfriend36 · 06/01/2016 14:09

Well done on the job Lollipop Smile

So dd managed to wet the bed last night, her mattress is saturated and despite my best efforts stinks Sad is there anything i can do to save it or am I just going to have to replace the flipping thing? So annoying as its not that old, definitely the last time dd has a drink before she goes to bed!!

NSD so far although will have to write a cheque for dds swimming lessons later....

FantaSea · 06/01/2016 14:47

Lollipop congratulations, that is brilliant news on your new job!

Italian good luck to your DH.

Girlfriend when DD wet the bed I would try and sponge it off with hot water and washing up liquid, making it as wet as possible, then rinse it off with clean water and a sponge, then blot it dry with a towel and then dry it with a hairdryer. You may have to do this a few times to get rid of the smell. Hope you have some success with it, it is annoying when the mattress is not that old.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/01/2016 14:58

Amazing lollipop!

Lovely to have you back NK

Hmm girlie is it bicarb they advise? Ask in the house keeping section. Does she wet the bed often? Dd does it when she's getting ill so we have sheet-bin liner-sheet on her bed. It's rare but it happens so we will keep it there for now.

Back from Southampton so pleased I took a packed lunch. £4 something parking then £27.98 in toys r us but had a £10 gift card. We don't have a toys r us that close so decided to go today.

nk fingers crossed about the job, being flown out to Oz sounds so cool to me!
Well done on the job lollypop and good luck to your dh italian
Nearly stopped at the local bakery to get something for lunch but stopped myself and had cheese on toast instead. Yesterday paid £25 for ds' cricket training and today need to pay £80 for dd's singing & drama lessons. Other than that, nothing spent.

Girlfriend36 · 06/01/2016 15:51

Spotty I can't remember the last time it happened! Must be at least 4 or 5 years ago, I think last night was a result of her having too much to drink in the evening, she doesn't seem otherwise ill. I did have a 'kylie' that went on top of the mattress but got rid of it as assumed the we were well past the wet bed days!!

I googled it and the advice is white wine vinegar and bicarb, not sure how that will help when it is literally completely soaked through to the other side! Will ask advice of my dear mother I think Grin

NK5BM3 · 06/01/2016 15:54

Thanks for the welcome back!! north it was a bit cool but I paid for it when I returned as my body didn't know which time zone I was in! Crossing 3 time zones and then some in 5 days isn't fun!! Grin

Nsd today. Worked from home.

bootygirl · 06/01/2016 15:58

Well done lollipop! Good luck to Italian husband!

Had to order printer paper & ink and photo paper got it for €46! I use it for crafting! Keeps me sane!

I am hoping to start exercising from tomorrow. Decided not to join any classes. Have a DVD some weights & going to go on line for yoga tutorials!

babsmam · 06/01/2016 16:24

Nsd

lilacclery · 06/01/2016 16:40

Was just going to recommend kylie my dd wets the bed, I have plastic sheets, have used bin liners also but the kylie is the only one that works. Some always seeps through the plastic sheet or around the bin liner!

Anyone tried out the new ynab?

I just signed up for the trial, and have started inputting balance. I have the older one and didn't use it properly yet but seeing as this is all online I might. Will see how I go with it and if it got me into the habit of using it I might use the old one I've already paid for. New one is a subscription service.

Bit of a frugal fail this week - ordered a diary online, it's a motivational one called Irish Get Up & Go for Busy Women, then today discover my favourite Organised Mum ones are half price - wouldn't be much difference in price by the time I'd have postage paid but probably would be a better diary though.

CremeEggThief · 06/01/2016 17:03

£1.51 on bakery goodies before DS's orthodontist appointment. I'll catch up later.

SfaOkaySuperFurryAnimals · 06/01/2016 17:06

Needsastrongone- yes very busy, back to work today you see Grin
Bantam- fight the power - that's ridiculous good luck
Welcome and well done on the job!
Welcome back NK and good luck
Spotty, I am the same, no savings or spare dollar at the minute, you went to Disney and I bought my carSmile
Car cost £200 yesterday Hmm
No charity shops for me this month and next then, no fun at all, but I can get to work. My kids were less than impressed to have me pay £2 each for a hit school lunch to br given a horrible cheese sandwich and ice cream because the school oven had broken (first day backConfused) I pay £20 a week in dinners for the twins, they have a cooked tea anyway, they are going back to pack up like me and their dad do for work....
So, £17.00 in Co-op, pack up/ more baking stuff, no big shop though, going to ekk freezer/ cupboards out until Saturday now.Smile

SfaOkaySuperFurryAnimals · 06/01/2016 17:07

Fingers crossed for your DH Italian .

SfaOkaySuperFurryAnimals · 06/01/2016 17:08

Sorry hate posting on my stoooopid phone, lollipop- welcome and well done on your job was for youSmile

Whataboutnodetox · 06/01/2016 17:22

Good luck NK for a good outcome. Jet lag is a bummer.

It was going to be a NSD but I've just used the last of the milk making quiche for dinner. Serving it with wedges made from potatoes that went out of date two months ago. Uses up the short crust pastry that went out of date yesterday and some lardons that have been in the freezer for ages. Hope it's ok, it'll fill us all up and if it's ok we can have some lunch for tomorrow when ds2 has lunch at nursery.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/01/2016 17:59

Spotty Google auto aid. It's on mse too. Basically if you need them you ring and they send out repair men who you pay upfront and claim back. It's about £40 for the year.
Welcome and well done on the job lollipop

SpottyTeacakes · 06/01/2016 18:10

babs I don't think we would be able to afford to pay someone upfront BlushGrin

SpottyTeacakes · 06/01/2016 18:13
