When you cooked the gammon, did you put water in the pot?.

In small portions it would be ok in soups.

Right, next time fill it right up.

I've done it to.

Ipsos · 03/01/2016 18:44

Sorry to hear that Luxy. That's a long time to go without eating at all. Is it maybe time to try the GP?

Hi all
Got to page 13 and thought I better join in again, hoping for a better 2016, 2015 was a horrible year with too many close ppl passing away way to young
2016 is starting in the not so merry way, dh is unemployed but luckily gets Union unemployment benefit so budget still intact...
We're going to lalandia end January so hope we can save a bit for that... Luckily we booked the stay on Black Friday saving us 40% Grin
Will love to do the penny swap but all our small coins goes to dd saving, gave her almost 150£ last year, that girl have saved around 700£ in 18 months... Quite good for her future I think
We save 100£ already pr months but will try saving some more...

ItalianWiking84 · 03/01/2016 18:53

Oh and happy new year or godt nytår Star

Ipsos · 03/01/2016 18:53

Luxy pm'd me. Sending healing vibes. Flowers

CremeEggThief · 03/01/2016 19:14

Luxy, sorry if this sounds silly, but are smoothies milkshakes and liquid foods worth trying? It is worrying to hear you haven't eaten in over a week...

Welcome back to ItalianWiking tooSmile.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/01/2016 19:21

Luxy have you tried something like Fortisips- it's a fortified drink. I was given it when I was really poorly once in hospital and couldn't eat.

So nice to hear from so many old voices as well as the new ones!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/01/2016 19:43

Milkshakes are what my GP recommended and not bothering too much about what you are eating, just eat what you can manage.

Not very frugal but I used to use those meal replacement shakes you can get for dieting. I figured at least those were fortified with some vitamins/minerals.

Hope you are feeling better soon. Flowers

Hello new people and returners.

Need I have been reading your London on the cheap thread as we are thinking of going at Easter, it's very good. I lufs mumsnet.

babsmam · 03/01/2016 19:55

Luxy I'm sorry you are feeling poorly.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2016 20:43

Fortisips are pricey, a multivitamin with iron is under a £1 for a months supply.

CremeEggThief · 03/01/2016 20:54

Luxy, almond milk is £1, a bunch of bananas is 80p and kale 80p in Sainsburys at present. That's coming in my shopping order on Tuesday and will do me for smoothies for a week. Please take care of yourself too.

Unescorted · 03/01/2016 20:58

luxy - that sucks. If they give my mum any more I will send the high cal fruit juices to you. My mum refuses to drink them but doesn't want to throw them out. She has to take them home or the hospital keeps her in. She gives them to me so I can throw them out.

supermariossister · 03/01/2016 21:08

Two nsd here, not by choice. Landed myself in a and E by ambulance last night with a panic attack never had anything so bad before when they arrived heart rate was at 198. They let me out late last night and dad bought us food on the way home but I feel shocking and am on rest all week so can't be spendy. Have an infection and dehydration but am most worried about the attacks coming back have never been so frightened in my life. Sorry to hear you are ill too L.

fuzzpig · 03/01/2016 21:12

We've filled in our weekly planner board but the pens are useless! Hmm I'm wondering if getting a cheap tear-off sheet thing would be better. Sure we've got some other board pens knocking about somewhere though.

Going to stick a wash on in a minute and will get some tomato sauce out of the freezer, DH cooked lots of sausages at dinner so I'll do a sausage pasta as DSS is coming over as well.

I think that for us, the only batch cooking/prepping that's worth doing is sauces (tomato/veg, cheese, pesto, Bolognese etc) - actual meals just seem to go to waste really. Much of the freezer space is taken up with frozen veg. We used frozen chopped red onion and peppers the other day for the first time, they were great - will use that in future, unless I'm making something for the freezer like a tomato sauce when I just cut big chunks, since it gets blended afterwards anyway.

I usually do sandwiches or wraps for the DCs at lunchtimes lately but I always find myself not wanting one, and then I end up hungry later. I might get some cheap cup a soup type things as it's dirt cheap and easy.

Allgunsblazing · 03/01/2016 21:18

£5 on eyebrow threading and I had £22 refund from previous purchase.
£6 in M&S ( on 2 birthday cards, a £1 notebook and £2 on cheese twists).

FantaSea · 03/01/2016 21:26

Thank you for all the welcome back messages Smile, it is so nice to see so many familiar names again.

Luxy sorry you feel so poorly Flowers

I am back to work tomorrow after being at home for 2 lovely weeks. I am not really looking forward to it. I have just been getting out my work clothes for tomorrow but I have eaten so much chocolate and other rubbish that I feel enormous so am going to play it safe and wear my elasticated fat trousers.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2016 21:32

Super That sounds awful for you. I hope you feel better soon.

ItalianWiking84 · 03/01/2016 21:38

Just went in and changed dh and my preliminary tax statement for 2016 so we should hopefully get around 1200£ back in the annual statement which is released in March 17... Going to use the money for a trip to Disneyland Paris for us and dd....
