Haven't been on the old thread for a few days so thought I'd start a new thread as it's nearly full.

collie from what you've said moving makes sense. £20k extra a year....? No brainier.

babsmam · 14/12/2015 19:49

Sounds like the move would be good all round. Collie

CremeEggThief · 14/12/2015 19:55

I also think you should go for the move, Collie. It sounds like it would solve your problems with isolation and poor transport. And if it doesn't work out, there's always DurhamSmile.

Glad DD is better, Girlie. You can tolerate cheekiness a bit more just after they've been ill, as it shows they're getting back to normal.

Right, let's see if I can recall my spends today.
£2.80 post office.
£7 bus fare.
£20 gas.
£2.29 shop.
£4.99 pharmacy.
Total: £37.08.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/12/2015 19:56

Put £20K into MSE mortgage overpayment calculator, or £10k or whatever and see how long you'd be mortgage free in.

CremeEggThief · 14/12/2015 19:57

I forgot to say what a trooper your DS is, going back to school after the dentist, Babs. "The show must go on", eh? And glad the meeting at school was productive, NorthXmas Smile

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 14/12/2015 20:09

self indulgent rant alert

being ill is so damn expensive. i'm blowing money left right and centre just to get through the day because i can't manage anything. taxis, convenient/fast food etc.
my festive feeling has gone out the window today. thought i'd manage a small shop at asda but even that was too much for me. ffs.

Girlfriend36 · 14/12/2015 20:09

Yes Creme I thought that, was nice to see her being silly earlier as she has been so unusually quiet these last few days Grin

Are we all watching Martin Lewis? Wink

Girlfriend36 · 14/12/2015 20:12

Fuzz Flowers can you do online shopping? I have found getting my weekly shop delivered a massive help.

Ememem84 · 14/12/2015 20:13

Yep.

I like Martin Lewis.

I was lucky in that I didn't get a student loan. Didn't qualify for one. I had a small grant from local government but parents paid for me.

Have since scrimped to pay them back

AdoraBell · 14/12/2015 20:26

I forgot Martin Lewis was on tonight, stroppy teen meant I was cooking late. Did see him on This Morning though.

I miss living and working in London.

Em at least you only slipped slightly, DD1 would have head long into the counter

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 14/12/2015 20:30

I normally do Girl :) usually get Tesco delivery which is fab but thought we'd try asda for a few cheaper bits, as we'd needed to go into town this morning anyway and wanted to get non-grocery stuff. :)

Ememem84 · 14/12/2015 20:31

adora yes. It was only a slip.

The Mac ladies tried to sell me everything. and I wanted to buy it all

I let them put me on their email list. And let them give me a few samples.

Dh is laughing as I'm currently watching all the thrifty shows on tv....

MrsSimonNeil · 14/12/2015 20:41

Congrats on dh's job offer Collie. That's great news.

Glad dd is feeling better girlie

I haven't caught up on the thread properly yet. It's been a LSD today, I took dd to do pottery today so I spent £13 there. She loved it so we may do more sessions in the future. 50p on a programme at dd's nativity and that's it.

It will be quite spendy tomorrow as I need to take Ds to get his feet measured. No idea how much his shoes will be Xmas Hmm

colliepirate · 14/12/2015 20:42

I'm currently watching Supershoppers on channel 4. Have learnt a few things actually!

About to check out houses in Somerset on Rightmove. So exciting!

Ursulatodd · 14/12/2015 20:53

Exciting Collie! I'm Somerset born and bred so feeling a tad Envy!!! I.am.spending.too.much...roll on January!! How come I buy presents all year and yet still have to make a trip to town this evening to buy more gifts? And more stamps? Also we slipped and fell into Nandos (great excuse Em!)

Ememem84 · 14/12/2015 21:04

ursula love nandos. Did you slip and fall into the hot sauce or lemon thyme?

Am serious saving in January.

colliepirate · 14/12/2015 21:33

I slipped and fell into eBay and spent £5 on a t shirt I really wanted. Xmas Smile

Girlfriend36 · 14/12/2015 21:43

Yeah I accidentally slipped (must have been a banana skin or something) onto the Boden site and accidentally bought dd 2 more tops. Damn those banana skins (oh well they were at least half price spent £18.)

needastrongone · 14/12/2015 21:45

Don't worry em, I spend money on all these things apart from waxing, and I have DC. Enjoy it before any potential DC come along and take your finances and life!!

Most shops here are open longer hours in the week before Christmas spotty, although this was an outlet type thing near to where DS was zapping everyone with a laser or some such thing. I spent £25 on sweets and Breaking Bad merchandise, stocking fillers for the DC.

Also won a rug for the pony on Ebay, it's new but a display model, a winter rug, £40, that's very cheap for the brand and the type of rug it is.

The soup maker soup was bloody lovely actually!

I am try a chicken, fennel and tomato ragout tomorrow, I have some fennel that I need to use up.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/12/2015 21:51

I put off buying a tumble dryer today and you're all having it away in shops Envy

Whataboutreindeer · 14/12/2015 21:54

Spent £9.60 on moonpig, cards for our parents with pics of kids on. I must investigate printing these myself next year.

needastrongone · 14/12/2015 21:55

'having it away' fluffy? Grin

I have to brave Primark on Wednesday, but will feel Christmas is nearly done then. Anyone with teenagers will know that a visit to Primark is a must for Christmas extras!

needastrongone · 14/12/2015 21:57

what I did calenders for the GP last year, I used Snapfish. I think I spent less than £25 for 4 calenders and was able to import all my Facebook pictures, hardly took any time at all and really good value.

colliepirate · 14/12/2015 21:58

fluffy Xmas Grin

Ememem84 · 14/12/2015 21:59

need definitely enjoying things before any kids come along. Can't quite imagine having small people to look after although am desperate for it
