Myself & dh owe a few thousand (credit cards, getting behind on other bills) Credit cards have been cut up and we have nothing to sell. We are really trying to budget, do sensible food shops but the sleepless nights are getting too much and I really can't see a way out.
The thought of someone else dealing with our creditors seems like a wonderful dream, but is it really worth it?
Does anyone have any advice please? Thanks

Don't pay for it go via a charity like Stepchange who don't charge fees. They will also help with organising repayments and budgeting.

I absolutely agree with LIZS, stick with stepchange.

They dont charge and you are also able to see where your monthly payment is going as its all managed on an online account for you to monitor.

You also update you financial details every year online so no lengthy hanging around making phone calls.

Another vote for a free provider. Payplan is the other big player.

You will have to submit the details of your finances but you need to be aware that if they think you can afford the repayments they won't be able to help.

Thank you for the advice. I'll have a look at the websites tonight.

If you haven't already, have a look at the Debt Free Wannabe board on Moneysavingexpert. They have plenty of useful stuff like budget planners, advice on dealing with creditors and DMPs. You'll need to get all your bills together and do a budget plan for STepchange/Payplan/CAP anyway. You'll find they have figures for what is reasonable to spend on food, phones, cars etc so you don't pitch these things too low.
