I'm hoping my shoes will come soon... I'm used to high heels because I'm educated in a bank and it was kinda the done deal to wear

SpottyTeacakes · 22/05/2015 14:36

Nsd. Haven't heard about the job so assume I didn't get it.

Going to make my own concoction for dinner, how does this sound?

Bacon
Onion
Courgette
Garlic (yes or no?)
Parsley (yes or no?)
Cherry tomatoes
Veg stock
Red lentils

Cooked up until it's thick and served with pasta and Parmesan. Or does it sound yuck? (Or wucky as my Ds says Grin)

girliefriend · 22/05/2015 14:52

spotty I think that sounds alright although i would leave the parsley out!

So today has been spendy

90p parking
£16.99 on a book for my dad (its a signed copy)
£25 on a shirt for my dad (it had 20% off)
£2.95 on a card
£2 in greggs on lunch
£46 in Morrisons.

Hmm thats more than I wanted to spend in Morrisons but I have stocked the freezer up for that and picked up a cheap bottle of wine. have more than enough food to last over half term now hopefully

Off to get dd from school now, think she will be tired they have been doing a danceathon today Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 22/05/2015 14:59

Humph ok I'll have to freeze the parsley Grin

girliefriend · 22/05/2015 16:19

Thats only cause I don't like parsley spotty Grin

spent another 50p on sweets for dd, its a friday treat day! She is knackered from all the dancing so vegging with a dvd now!

Its half term - yippeeeee!!!

Passthecake30 · 22/05/2015 17:13

I would probably leave lentils and parsley out spotty, if there's enough bacon do you need lentils too?

£29 in primarkBlush. A couple of £6 tops for work, denim shorts for ds (he doesn't ask for much but asked for another pair), cheap beach shorts and new joggers for him too..and a £1.50 tshirt for dd so she has "something"

Going to get fish n chips for dinner, this has been my first full week of work in 7.5 yrsShock

Off to mums tomorrow so will save money (by eating her food! )

SpottyTeacakes · 22/05/2015 17:16

I added lentils to thicken it up. Plus I didn't have pasta with mine so it was more of a dhal. Just got a voicemail from this morning didn't get the job feeling pretty shitty even though I probably wouldn't have been able to do it. It's like someone saying they don't like you isn't it?

I had an awful interview once where one of the people interviewing clearly hated me for some reason. She asked a question and after I had answered she said 'I don't think you get what I am actually asking' (the question was a 'why does this job interest you?') she was obviously a twat as there is no wrong answer to that just bad ones WinkGrin

Pointlessfan · 22/05/2015 17:53

It's been a strange day here, found out that a friend has died. Not a close friend but nevertheless it was a shock, she was young and had young children too. Been feeling a bit listless all day so left work early and did supermarket shop (£40).
Also had some good news which is that work have finally agreed my flexible working request - only 7 more weeks full time! Need to be extra frugal now though!

Pointlessfan · 22/05/2015 17:56

Spotty that sounds lovely. My mum makes something similar but she stuffs the courgettes with the other ingredients, sprinkles cheese over and bakes them. They are delish!

SpottyTeacakes · 22/05/2015 17:58

Sorry about your friend pointless. I always feel a bit sick and teary at the thought of young dc losing a parent.

Good news on the flexi working though Smile

Pointlessfan · 22/05/2015 18:10

I know what you mean, I keep thinking about her lovely boys wondering where mummy is and her poor DH having to tell them. It's heartbreaking.

needastrongone · 22/05/2015 18:28

Evening. Spends today -

£10, pony feed, treats for dogs, 2 trays of strawberry plants.
£5 to DD for a Costa after school with boyfriend.
£4 DS karate.

pointless I am so sorry about your friend. Never a good time, but having young children makes it heart breaking.

spotty It's hard, but you mustn't take it seriously. They were looking for a skill set, that's all. You have a different skill set.

italian I love your shoes, they are fab!

Issu app looks interesting, thanks fluffy

Ipsos I was a pension scheme manager for medium and large pension schemes in the defined benefits area for about 12 years. Very stressful, lots of deadlines, but actually very interesting too. Very well paid, but not at all compatible with a family, as I discovered. Ironic that I worked in the employee benefits sector, and was treated miserably after having DS.

I made a large pot of minestrone soup at dinner time in the slow cooker as we are all eating at different times tonight. I have never made this before. It's bloody brilliant!! And so easy.

Got my DF and DSM over this weekend. Making a curry, one vegetable and one honey and lime chicken. I will then only need to buy some Indian starters.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/05/2015 18:50

That's awful pointless, her poor family.

£6-7 Tesco on steak using the orchard vouchers and jus rol pain au chocolat.

£91 on vet for the cat. He'd better bloody get better now.

Oh Pointless. That is so, so sadSad... Even if you hadn't been in touch for a while, something like that haunts you. Thanks

£9.70 travel and £6.60 chippy tea... and £59.99 on a new phone. I lost mine on public transport this morning... just before a job interview and after realising I'd packed the wrong A -Z. First time I've ever lost a phone since I got my first one in 1999Angry.

Pointlessfan · 22/05/2015 19:29

Sorry to hear that pointless and spotty.

Ended up being on not too bad today. 5.40 in park cafe, 3 parking, 4 beavers.

AdoraBell · 22/05/2015 20:27

Sorry to hear about your friend and her poor family Pointless

Those curries sound lovely, as does the soup, Need and I notice DD needs money to go out with the BF. Is that more common now, do you think?

Here it's still very much the boy, or his parents, pay for everything. I always give them money but never have they been able to pay for anything. A couple of weeks ago DD1 went out with a classmate who really likes her but she's not interested. His parents paid for concert tickets, T-shirt and a CD, and wouldn't even let her pay for her drink.

Italian those shoes are lovely.

Fluffy I'm going to check that app out once we've moved. I broke my phone and and now using DH's very old phone for the time being.

Spotty sorry you didn't get the job, that food sounds yummy though.

Tomorrow will be spendy as we need to DHL documents. That means driving into town, parking, DDs wanting to look at stuff etc.

LaChatte · 22/05/2015 20:37

Oh Pointless how awful for her family Sad

I found out today that my godmother has just been diagnosed with incurable lung cancer Sad , I haven't spoken to her yet but from what I gather she might not have much time, it's heartbreaking as her younger daughter has just given birth to twins - in Australia, DGdM lives in UK, to think she might never meet her grandchildren Sad

Ate out this evening, €50, as really didn't feel up to cooking.

Pointlessfan · 22/05/2015 20:55

Sorry to hear your news too LaChatte that's really sad.
